Cummings Elementary serves more than 300 students in grades two through six. Its academic curriculum includes various subjects, such as language arts, mathematics, social studies and science. The school additionally conducts art, music, and health and physical education classes. Cummings Elementary offers special education programs, speech and language therapies and psychological testing services to students. It offers an accelerated reader program that encourages students to read more books. Each of its classrooms features nearly two computers. The school has a parent-teacher community that supports assemblies, enrichment projects and family-oriented activities. In addition, it publishes a newsletter. Cummings Elementary offers various extracurricular activities, such as spelling bee competitions, Odyssey of the Mind, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. The school is located in Grand Rapids, Mich., and is a part of Grandville Public Schools.
