Max Mertz, MD, is a board certified family physician with more than three decades of experience providing high quality, individualized care. By serving not only as a doctor but also as a leader of numerous health care organizations in Northern Indiana, he has dedicated his career to helping patients and their families get the care they deserve. Dr. Mertz graduated with highest distinction from the Indiana University School of Medicine. After finishing his family practice residency, he opened his own private practice before joining Goshen Physicians in 1996. He served as the president of the Elkhart County Health Board, Director Emeritus of the Goshen Hospital and Healthcare Foundation, Medical Director of Indiana Lakes Managed Care Organization and Medical Director of Goshen Home Care & Hospice, to name a few. When he’s not treating patients of all ages, he enjoys reading, bicycle riding, and spending time with his wife, Lydia, and their four children.
