Provided by YP.comI've dealt with Lemays since 2004. First item, this isn't a grocery store. Second, it's not like a grocery store butcher counter. Third, it's still not a grocery store, where you're sold miserable critters, with a smile and a rewards club card.
This is a working slaughterhouse, which sources their animals locally, and provides superior quality products. As-such, they do an outstanding job. As a retail supermarket, where you can tailor your order to the ounce? Not-so-much. Animals don't grow to ISO9001 standards. So, if you're going to order a side of beef, expect the steaks - the few that a side will yield - not to be the exact same size.

Provided by YP.comI have been getting a pig from Lemay & Sons every year for 7 years for a annual pig roast. I have always been very happy with their service. They have even stuffed the pig for us with fresh fruit (we provided the fruit). I will be calling very soon to order another pig for this years pig roast. Thank You Lemay's for helping us host our pig roast.

Provided by YP.comI ordered a 100 to 125lb pig from Lemay's for a pig roast and was quoted $2.35 per pound. I called a few days later and asked if they would lean closer to the 100lbs than the 125lbs, as my guest list had shrunk. Again, they quoted my $2.35 per pound. After the pig was eaten, I noticed that they'd charged me $2.65 per pound. When I called, the woman I spoke to said "Oh, you must have gotten a 99lb pig." Huh? "Yeah" she said... "That happens sometimes... it comes in just under 100 and we have to charge you the higher price." Gee, no one mentioned that during TWO phone conversations.
"But I ordered from 100 to 125lbs and asked for the lower end of the weight range. I didn't ask for LESS than 100. By charging me $2.65 for 99 lbs, I paid $27.35 MORE than if you'd charged me for 100lbs - the minimum that I asked for!!!!!" (And now I want to know HOW OFTEN the pig is coincidentally only 99lbs!!)
"Sorry, that's how we do it. I can have the owner call you."
The owner never called, nor did he respond to my email. The pig was quite good, by the way, (that's why the one star) but I still have a bad taste in my mouth. It's not the money, it's the principle.
