Good Hospital

Since the Banner hospitals took this one over, it has become a better hospital.

In fact, I was well attended by nurses, and my doctor was quite knowledgeable.

However, I did notice that a nurse seemed to have some influence on the doctor. He is a good doctor, and nurses should be doing the information gathering and doctors should not consider much of what others say. They should rely on the test results and medical records--Never nurses or trouble makers.

Hippocrates would be aghast

Dr. Shahedul Islam appears to be a well-trained, knowledgeable internal medicine specialist. He also has a basically agreeable and friendly personality. What he does not appear to have is any sense of a physician’s obligation to society. He bears the less-than-enviable distinction of being the only physician in my lifetime who just plain abandoned me, telling me to find another doctor. If Dr. Islam is your primary care provider, and you turn up in the emergency room in the middle of the night,, what you’ll get from him the next time you see him (which won’t be that night you need him most) is a bitter lecture on how unfair it is to him, his staff, and the rest of his patients that your problem disturbed his sleep.

I gave this young doctor every possible break, including a refusal to hold his last name against him in these times when “Islam” is a dirty word to so many uneducated and hyper-conservative Americans. What I got in return was a surprise ejection from his practice the first time it became inconvenient for him. I suspect that Dr. Islam has one of the lowest mortality rates of internal medicine specialists in the state – because he’s so quick to dump a seriously ill patient on somebody else.
