When you want to find a dentist that accepts a certain dental insurance, your first question before even scheduling that appointment is..."do you accept xyz insurance?" The answer Dr. Setterberg's office gave was "yes"! So, I scheduled the appointment, had my teeth cleaned, x-rays done, etc. with the appropriate amount covered by xyz insurance. Then, a few weeks later I received a bill from Dr. Setterberg's office for over $200 for the visit. I called Dr. Setterberg's office to find out why this was billed when I know that xyz insurance covers this visit in full. Come to find out, the office is not a "preferred provider" of xyz insurance and is considered "out of network". When questioned, they said but we do "accept it", they just don't tell you that they are NOT a participating dentist and you will be billed for hundreds of dollars. Also, when I asked to speak to Dr. Setterberg, I was told he was very busy and his answer was there is nothing he will do about the bill. I asked for him to call me but after a week he has yet to call. I feel this was a true case of Bait and Switch. Get me in there with the line of "yes, we accept that insurance", do everything possible to raise the fees, THEN once everything is done, we were informed that insurance will not cover it since they are out of network.
