If I could give negative stars I would. The first time we went there my dog was severely underweight and was pooping blood. They didn't do much but give him pain pills and dewormed him. I thought maybe it was a parasite. They ran tests and never gave me a diagnostic, but said they could refer me somewhere to get an ultrasound for $600 if the issue didn't clear up. A month and 3 visits later they kept telling me it would clear up and treated his issue with something to solidify his poop. This worked for the 5 days he took it then right back. I eventually gave him pumpkin and a parasite treatment on my own and it cleared up for good. Fast forward 4 months and my dog is scratching his ears so violently that he's bleeding. I panicked and didn't know anywhere else to go so I took him back. They treated him for an ear infection and then asked me to come back in 4 weeks. When we left my dog was gushing blood. They cut his nail so short it was bleeding and they did nothing to stop it. They somehow ripped off his ear scab and did nothing to dress it. He came out petrified and crying. I was furious but let it go because he was able to calm down with me in the car and his ears didn't seem to be bothering him anymore. Everything was fine for a few weeks, but then went right back to normal so I asked if we could come in early. Now they say its allergies. All of these repeat appointments, all of these misdiagnosis, all of this time. I will never bring my dog back there, if you love your animal neither will you. Immature and ignorant people run that office, inexperienced "vets" treat your pet. And they will keep having you come back for $200 here, $500 there while they guess over and over as to what the issue might be.

Having been 15 year clients of...

Having been 15 year clients of GAH, we recently had our sick dog there for a visit with Dr. Alexis Mayer. After $240 for the first visit and 4 medications, then an additional $70 for a 5th medication (none of which helped the dog) we decided on a second opinion. We discovered that our dog had PINK EYE. GAH did not address this, loaded the dog with unnecessary medications, referred us to Opthalmology after our insistence that his eyes were getting worse despite what she prescribed and finished her sentence with "I wouldn't wait to take him to the specialist - he could go blind". Dr. Mayer blatantly misdiagnosed my dog and he suffered for almost a week at which point we thought we might have to put him down if he did indeed lose his eyesight.

When I talked with Dr. Rieder, he of course sided with Dr. Mayer and refused us a full refund.

Bottom line - stay away from GLENOLDEN ANIMAL HOSPITAL. The vets are incompetent, the staff is RUDE and their prices are through the roof.

I've been taking all my animals to this place for years. They have always treated me and my pets wonderfully. Nearly all of my pets are very shy and unpleasant to strangers. This is the only clinic that is happy to work with them and surprisingly they've been able to win them over. My pets actually look forward to seeing Dr. Rieder. I've never seen doctors with such a genuine love of pets!

If you want to be traumatized as well as your pet, then come to this vet clinic. You will encounter absolute rage when you have to wait 30 plus minutes for an appointment that was scheduled 6 months ago! The front staff along with the technicians and doctors are so arrogant.  Never once has my pet been taken back for their scheduled appointment on time! There would be times where there are no other pets in the office, and yet my appointment still does not begin when scheduled. This is not ok, not respectful,  not caring and not professional. There is no sense of urgency in this place and they just could care less that you have a confined pet whose nerves are raw from the anxiety of waiting so long. Please save yourselves the headache and skip this place.

The BEST Vet around! Professional, friendly, compassionate - I cannot say enough about the staff and the care they provide! They went above and beyond in the care provided to our dog Otis and continue to check in to make sure everything is still going well a year post-op!

I have been a client of Glenolden Animal Hospital for 9 years, and my dogs have always had thorough exams and been treated with care and love. My dogs have had issues from cancer to kidney disease and the vets at Glenolden take the lead in finding the best and most suitable treatment strategies. I’m amazed each time that GAH calls to follow up on how they are doing after an appointment. I’m surprised to see the previous reviews, because my experiences at Glenolden have all been positive and been with caring and concerned doctors and staff.

awful misdiagnosed

Took my cat there because she had developed lumps in her abdomen. Dr. Mayer said they just looked like fatty tissue. Took her to the spca for a second opinion and turns out they are cancerous tumors. The drs. Here always rush the exams, try to sell you stuff you dont need and always have attitudes.

Perhaps there was a moment in time when Dr. Sprowls wasn't so clearly disenchanted with her job. If you are looking for incompetent vets who misdiagnose, don't answer your questions and don't care about your beloved pets, then gah is the place for you. Sprowls is completely unprofessional and sarcastic. She rushes you in and out with no info at all. Ummm why does the website say nutritional counceling and preventive healthcare? That's just false advertising. St. John is not as arrogant as Sprowls but she's incompetent and wishy washy. She has extremely poor communication skills and will lie right to your face. You need to know the right questions to ask in order to get any info out of her. I prefer a Dr who will be thorough and will educate me on my pets needs. Gah is apparently run by heartless manikins just going through the motions. They just dont get that people are counting on them to help their pets. Their job is so important and it seems to mean nothing to them. I recommend their staff take a field trip to Stoney Creek Animal Hospital to see how an animal hospital should be run. Maybe they would learn how to simply talk to people with compassion and respect and help people make the best choices for their pets health. These two facilities are like night and day! I will never take a pet to gah again.
