Jim, of Basal's Transmissions, came highly recommended to me from members of a Bronco forum I participate in after I had difficulty located a trustworthy mechanic (familiar with older trucks) here on Long Island.



All I can say is that Jim is the most dedicated, trustworthy guy I've had the pleasure to work with in years. He takes pride in his workmanship, delivers when he says he will, discusses all repairs in detail, AND charges fair prices.



Jim's knowledge of Bronco's saved many hours or labor charges because he knows the trucks like he knows the back of his hand.



I had an extensive mechanical overhaul performed on my 73 Ford Bronco, in addition to rebuilding the transmission, and I am completely satisfied because the work was done right!



Thanks, Jim for rescuing me from the world of dishonest, unskilled mechanics. You made this rebuild a really fun experience.

Called these guys to read the transmission codes for my truck. Other transmission shops in the area wanted an hours worth of labor (around $100 bucks) just to read the codes and couldn't even schedule me until the next week. Basal's transmissions told me to bring my truck right in and they read the codes for free, even wrote them down for me. The mechanic then discussed the problem with me and nicely suggested I check the wiring harness, which I did and turned out to be an easy cheap fix. Basal's also gave me the best quote for a complete rebuild compared to competitors. These guys are very nice and honest. Simply the best around. Period. Would recommend to anyone. Thanks Basal's!

Added fluid to my Audi A4 1.8t Trans and saved me a lot of money. Did not need a new trans like others told me. Also noted no leaks or other problems.

I would definitely recommend this place. They do fabulous work, have great customer service, and go the extra mile to help their customers.

The way an auto mechanic shop should be! I recently moved to Glastonbury, and took my car to these guys because my transmission seemed like it was slipping. They took my car and diagnosed it for free. They found nothing wrong and returned my car to me with no charge, whereas they easily could have raked me over the coals with unnecessary charges or repairs. I can't remember the last time I got honest service from an auto mechanic. I will definitely use them in the future if I experience car trouble. Everyone was extremely courteous and respectful as well. I believe in giving credit where it is do, and these guys absolutely deserve credit for being honest!

Best place to go! Everyone always so nice, and they care about there quality of there work..No one touches our families cars but them..There honest, and if they tell you something is wrong~you can bet its the truth...By far a 5 star transmission place!
