Dr. Wruble was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and graduated from the University of Tennessee Memphis, The Health Science Center with honors. He did his internship at Philadelphia General Hospital and his medical residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital, University of Miami Medical Center. Following this, Dr. Wruble completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Miami and a year as a National Institutes of Health research fellow at the same institution. After completing his training, he joined the faculty of the University of Tennessee Memphis, The Health Science Center as an instructor in medicine. He served as acting Chairman of the Division of Gastroenterology for several years in the early 1970's, and is presently Clinical Professor of Medicine. He has published numerous articles, written several chapters for books and co-edited a study book for gastroenterology. He has served as governor for the American College of Gastroenterology in the State of Tennessee and as its Regional Director for the Southeastern United States. Dr. Wruble remains active in clinical research and medical education for which he has won numerous teaching awards, including the Golden Apple Award for teaching excellence. He is named as one of "the Best Doctors in America" as voted on by his peers. This was recently recognized by Memphis Magazine.
