About KIPP Gaston College Prep KIPP Gaston College Preparatory is a free open-enrollment public charter school located in Gaston, North Carolina ( Northampton County ). KIPP Gaston was founded in 2001 by Caleb Dolan and Tammi Sutton and was one of the first KIPP ( Knowledge Is Power Program ) schools in the country. Growing from a single group of 80 students in 2001, KIPP Gaston now has over 600 students in grades 5-12 and is one of the highest performing public schools in North Carolina.
