Cypress does not believe in praying in tongues, enough said!Someone said they go there because it's a good time, and nothing else. That is not good enough,I pray in tongues.

As a long time member it may be time for me to move on. This church is no longer the place it used to be. I miss an actual Pastor preaching the word. I stayed to give the pre-recorded sermons a chance but it is just not the same. This week's prerecorded message was read by a pastor from a cell phone, not a bible in sight. There is a strong push to always bring new people to the church. I used to let that go telling myself Jesus made fishers of men but it is repeated over and over the "bringing new people". I left completely dismayed. I have no idea what the sermon was even about. There was no coherent teaching. I miss the old worship leader. I'm sure there is a reason for him stepping down but his presence is missed at the front and center. For the past few months I leave the services feeling like something is missing. There used to be a HUGE feeling of the spirit of the Lord. Now there is just disappointment. I no longer feel divinely inspired. The whole experience just falls flat.

I went to this church for a year as an Atheist searching for answers to questions no one could answer.. No one would talk to me. I would even work to make eye contact with people to try to engage them, but the moment they saw me smiling at them, their eyes darted and they moved on. At one point I walked in the door and one of the youth pastors was talking to me about my kids and getting them involved in a program. I was excited! His wife came over looking suspicious. He introduced us, and she looked horrified to meet me.. like she thought I was trying to steal her husband. Seriously, the LAST thing on my mind. I went into the bathroom nearby to see if I looked offensive in some way, and I really didn't... just a gal looking for a place to make friends, try to understand who God really is, and get her kids some stability during a terrible divorce from an abusive father. After over a year there, I made not one friend no matter how hard I tried to connect with people. Not one. Stayed an Atheist 3 more years before God touched my heart in my own home. God's heart is not in these people, and if anything, they kept a wedge between me and God for years, because they misrepresented who God really is in their unkindness. The leadership wives of this church need to step back and reassess their jealousies, and how they are dividing the broken-hearted from the God who can rescue them.

My family attended this church for a full year, towards the end they introduced the recorded sermons where Pastor Ken would preach in person at 1 service - the first one on saturday night - and the sermon would be recorded and broadcast the rest of the services. WHAT IS UP WITH THAT?! You want me to invite new people to a service to sit and watch a screen? No!

The church staff has never said a word about the fact that this girl's father was fired from his job nor has there been ever anything said bad about anyone in the family. The staff has kept the situation to themselves. It was an unfortunate situation I am really sorry that the children of this employee have had a hard time with their circumstances but to start talking bad about their former church is not what should be done either. I realize she is young and protective of her family and I pray that she and her siblings are able to overcome the obstacles they face.

I am probably the only person ...

I am probably the only person qualified to leave a comment because my dad worked there for 2 years and i know whats really going behind closed doors in their leadership. From all outward appearances Cypress appears to be a happening place to grow in Chirst but that is not so. Cypress Wesleyan is sadly a church full of lies and deciet. My father worked there for 2 years and was even great friends with Pastor Ken and the whole staff until they all turned their backs on him when our family was going through a major family crisis. Because they had no legitamate reason for firing him they continued to make up lies about my mom and dad......that is not a house of God. Read my mom's book coming out this year called "There Are Wolves Among Us" to see what's REALLY going on being the scenes at Cypress Wesleyan Church. I'm posting this so people will not be led astray. God bless :)

Cypress is a truly magnificent church!

*The pastor"s team represents the best of teaching, caring, and serving the congregation and the community of Cypress.

*The music team inspires, encourages, and prepares the congregation of Cypress for worship.

*The technical team coordinates, communicates, and directs the many aspects of providing the pastors and music team with weekly services at Cypress.

*The hospitality team welcomes, guides, and reaches out to everyone that attends Cypress each week.

*The children's worship team educates, motivates, and creates an atmosphere of joy for the kids of Cypress.

What an AMAZING TEAM of GOD'S FAMILY! I am honored to be part of this TEAM.

I do love this church. And eve...

I do love this church. And even though it is very different from the church I grew up in, what we see is what we look for and dwell on. After a month or so at Cypress, I volunteered to be part of the hospitality team. My expectation was that I would meet more people and feel more "part of". As with anything in life, my expectations were met. When I go to Saturday service, I look for opportunities to enrich my spirit and worship God; my expectations are always met and often exceeded. Cypress creates an environment to worship, grow and "love thy neighbor as thyself". I encourage people in the Columbus area who are looking for opportunities to connect and grow spiritually, meet other Christians, serve in a new way or find a place to firm their family's spiritual foundation to try Cypress. One or two weeks won't provide a clear picture; give it a few months with an open mind. I'm so glad I did.

Amazing Church

We moved here 2yrs ago and checked out so many churches. Cypress was the first church that made as feel welcome. The people were warm, the pastor's message about Christ is highly educative. Our kids love it there and so do we.

I cannot imagine a better chur...

I cannot imagine a better church home. I have been going to Cypress for 15 years and met my wife of 7 years there. This is a church that has it right. It is welcoming and puts an emphasis on kids. The children's department is great and I love that my kids have a chance to have fun and learn about Christ at the same time.

The worship services are amazing. You never know what to expect and some of the creative "hooks" are great conversation starters to invite friends to church. The music is amazing and it draws you in to worship. I love the lights, video, etc. and it is so cool to see so many people offering their talents to serve a mighty God and present excellence in HIS name. I am proud to be part of a church that pulls out all of the stops to reach people for Christ. The stories of life change are amazing! I love hearing all of the testimonies of people who have come to faith in Christ or who have remained faithful no matter the circumstances in life! Every month there are baptisms and stories being shared and it is awesome to watch. There are literally stories of God moving all of the time! I will never forget the image of people crossing the bridge during the Easter service two years ago and placing their post-it notes on the cross representing commitments (many first-time) to Christ. It was truly powerful! God has truly blessed this ministry and is working through it to make a difference on the west side of Columbus.

I am truly thankful to have such an awesome church home!

It saddens me to see the negat...

It saddens me to see the negative comments posted against My church. Cypress has been home to me and my family for the past 5 years. Cypress was suggested to us in a very casual conversation at a community park located in the development in which we live. We hardly new the couple who made the suggestion, but thank them still to this day for offering up Their church which has tremendously changed our lives. Stories just like these fill the walls within Cypress and it's simply because of the overwhelming presence of Jesus Christ who is spilling out his blessings to Cypress, its attendees, and it's leadership. Churches all over the city have guest speakers come in to share their stories and testimonies of how God has used them and blessed them. There are no limits to which God will go to reach his sheep. Whether it's a motorcycle club, sports, great music, or guest speakers, God will provide His children with the vision to reach countless others for their salvation.

I appreciated Pastor Ken's explanation when he talked to the congregation regarding the giveaways that were going on when we opened the expansion to our new place of worship. "Not one penny was used from tithes or offerings for the purchase of the items given away.".

Cypress is absolutely fiscally responsible, overflowing with the Holy Spirit, and has a leadership team that understands how to get spiritual messages across so that they can be understood, ingested, and leave you craving more.

Thank you, Cypress, for saving me and my family and being our home for spiritual growth.

What an Amazing Place

Cypress has been my church ever since I was born. About 20 years have passed and I've have grown through their children and youth ministries growing in my walk with Christ. This church dedicates tons of time and money into the childrens and teens lives, hoping to help them continue their walk for many more years to come. Great Chruch and I would recommend to anyone!!!!

Ever since being introduced to...

Ever since being introduced to Cypress our family life has improved in so many ways. This is due to how much you feel the Holy Spirit moving through this Church. Everyone who works with the Church and Volunteers with the Church has always been outgoing and very friendly with everyone who walks through the door, no matter how you look. They offer so many different ways for every family to connect with God on a daily basis. I love being a part of this Church family and would highly recommend this Church to everyone.

Cypress is my choice after att...

Cypress is my choice after attending services at several other local churches of various denominations. The church here is growing and the people are warm and welcoming. Since I started attending, I have started serving as well. I have also gotten involved in a small group with a great group of people. Through serving and getting connected in a small group, both have truly enhanced the feeling of "Church family". Some people may get uncomfortable in a larger church setting. But, connecting through small groups keeps you from feeling like you will never get to really know anybody. I would invite anyone looking for a relevant church to come check this church family out. Some people have gotten so used to being in a church environment where the walls protect people from the world outside. I believe Cypress boldly engages the world and meets people where they are. Come in, come as you are. No one is expecting lost people to act like saved people here. But, this is a great place to meet Jesus.

I've been going to Cypress for over 10 years now and it just keeps getting better. There were a few growing pains during the new build, but they were handled in a Godly way and the church is now stronger than ever. We are reaching people for God every day.

My wife and I both serve every week and have gone on Cypress sponsored mission trips and we can see the great work the church is doing. Ken does a great job of taking scripture and relating it to our modern every day lives.

We have an awesome Celebrate Recovery program that is reaching anyone that has a hurt, habit, or hangup with God's word for healing.

The other pastors and staff all do a great job and God continues to bless Cypress and use us to take new territory for His Kingdom.

Wonderful Home

This church has been a home for me for the past 19 years, which is almost my entire life. Whether I had the best week of my life or the worst week, Cypress was always there. Not only did I come to know God and get baptized at Cypress, I have continued to grow and learn more about our Lord and Savior. I have lost many people close to me within the last few years, and without God and a place like Cypress to turn to, I don't know what I would have done. You can truly feel God and the love from others from the second you walk in the door.

Missing the mark

I agree wholeheartedly with the earlier reviews. We attended Cypress twice when we first moved to Columbus. Neither time impressed us. In fact the Easter service is the only church service we have ever walked out on. The whole service was focused on a flashy audio visual presentation. The message was shallow and short. They took too many liberties with the story of creation. In fact we joke and still call it "the Mark Wilson Experience". In the brief moments the pastor spoke there was still a spotlight shining on their "in house Michael W Smith". I was nauseating!!! Lots of bling and sparkle but no real substance. Very sad really. So many people are being robbed of what it means to be a true follower of Christ. I hope they wake up and get that church on the right track. They should be ashamed of their antics.
