Friendswood Parks and Recreation Department is one of the city departments of Texas. The department organizes a wide variety of programs and activities for children, young adults and senior citizens. Its activities include tai chi, aerobics and Swiss ball exercise, pinochle, line and ballroom dancing, tap dance for beginners and professionals, Bible studies, bridge club, lunch program, and blood pressure checks. Located in Friendswood, Texas, it also hosts various events, such as stars and stripes band, port of Houston, annual watermelon bash, annual ice-cream social, pilgrims potluck at Stevenson Park, and annual Christmas luncheon. The department oversees the maintenance of the activity building, Leavesley, Stevenson and Centennial parks, and Evelyn B. Newman Amphitheater. Additionally, it provides youth and adult programs, including Pepsi punt, pass and kick, summer day camp, arts and crafts competitions, nature studies, scavenger hunts, swimming, sports, kidfish event, water aerobics, jazzercise, and spookfest softball tournament.
