I am also a dissatisfied parent. My daughter has been taking classes at FGC for years. Last year their lack of organization and communication was a problem. This year it is out of control. Trying to get reliable information is almost impossible. You will get a different answer from each person at the front desk. I pulled my daughter out after years of lessons and found a new gym for her. It's sad that we have to leave but the level of confusion was too much for me. Customer service has gone out the window at FGC. Do your child and yourself a favor and go to a different gym from the beginning.

I'm not one for writing review...

I'm not one for writing reviews, but after the lengthy one given here with one star, I needed to be heard. My kids have been going to FGC for several years now, and I have always found the organization to be very professional. MANY girls start out at FGC and not only win awards, but scholarships from universities in gymnastics. The owners, teachers, and coaches put the kids first, sometimes at the detriment of other more visually obvious things, like updated computer equipment or soap dispensers in the girl's bathroom, but that's as it should be. Everything a teacher or coach does with a child is geared toward, not only future gymnastics moves, but in a gentle and safe way, showing a child how their body works, using their body weight in an age-appropriate way to build strength, stamina and mental ability. And the kids love it! I have never heard of a kid not liking the classes, and I listen to what other parents tell me because I'm a parent sitting up there waiting for my kid to finish class just like they are. I have no affiliation with FGC other than being a paying customer. The previous reviewer is correct that there is usually no one behind the desk on Saturdays, but I don't see a problem with that. They have "meets" on Saturdays and most of the staff are linked to those meets in some way. It's a small price given what a child receives in return. I would definitely recommend FGC to anyone I know.

DISSATISFIED PARENT

Unfortunatly I do not have a good review of Frederick Gymnasatics Club for children. I signed my daughter up for the 8 week program for 4 year olds. I should have known that it was not organized from the beginning. My husband and I went there so sign my daughter up for classes and we had to put my daughters name on a waiting list and were told we would here something in 2 weeks (we had to wait to see if current students were re-registering). So I waited 3 weeks and still no phone call. I called them, and were told that someone woould call me back by the end of the week. Again, I waited. No-one called. So I called back AGAIN. And again was told that they were begining to call parent who were on the waiting list and someone would be calling me back any day. Well, needless to say, no one called. So for the last time, I called and the prson I talked to said that my daughter was going to be in class we selected and that I should have been called the week prior and that class will begin that coming Saturday. Well, in spite of my disappointment with thier lack of communication, we took my daughter to class. Well, that first day, there was no one at the front desk to tell us what to do or where to go, so we hung out int the lobby until finnally a "teacher" came out of the gym to call for her class. My daughter enjoys gymnastics so we continued with the rest of the sessions that we paid for. BUT there was no communication from the staff and the parents. We had to ask other parents on the process. There was never anyone sitting at the front desk to answer questions and the young ladies that were teaching the class was not very helpful. They also were not very friendly. When working with little kids, you have to at least smile at them. One particular girl who was with my daughters class never smiled at the kids, she always look af if she did not want to be there. Finanlly, there was a note written on a white board about an "End Of Year Show" and that it cost $20 for your child to participate and get a trophy. We signed her up, and expected little from this show. And we got just what we expected. A big unorganized mess. There were students and guests everywhere and the directors not knowing how to handle the show. The show consisted of my daughter going through obsticals as if she was going through her normal Saturday class. There were not enough seats for guests and the teachers had not a clue as to what to do. We were not told how this program was going to work. I know this petty long so let me say that I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE WITH YOUNG KIDS!!!! I was not impressed with the older gymnist either.
