While working as an administrative assistant, she began consulting for friends and acquaintances who sought advice and help with their wardrobes.The company was named DRESSOIR: the French word meaning to dress another. Within a year the business had realized great success, however, Wilson decided to make a career change going to work for a Fort Worth retailer. She was a natural and rapidly moved into buying and managing as well as consistently being the top sales producer.Success in retail allowed her to expand her wardrobe consulting business quickly. In 1987, the name of the company was changed to "BJ Wilson, Wardrobe Consultant", for name recognition. She began working seasonally to analyze wardrobes and developed a detailed system based totally on the four seasons concept. The system provided clients with a wardrobe management plan based on lifestyles.Additional staff proved invaluable and new services were added. After consideration and research, Wilson, encouraged by her daughter, decided to open a boutique. The original name of Wilson's business in 1983, DRESSOIR, was chosen to be the name of the upscale fashion establishment that opened in March of 1997.After much success, BJ Wilson & Company and DRESSOIR the Boutique looked for a way to give back to the community and initiated an annual benefit fashion show and luncheon to benefit the Crime Prevention Resource Center.
