BUYER BEWARE!!!

If you truly know Vietnamese food, then stay away to avoid disappointment! As a Vietnamese man that grew up with home cooked Vietnamese food and spectacular Vietnamese restaurants in NYC like Thai Son on Baxter street, I was very disappointed with the food that I experienced at this restaurant. I typically judge Vietnamese restaurants on their Chả giò (Vietnamese eggrolls) and the rice dish that I get. The eggrolls were terrible! The inside of the eggrolls seemed as if their mix consisted of minced pork and shredded carrots. It certainly tasted like it. It surely lacked the bean thread, jicama, dried mushroom, cabbage and onion. A good mix of those ingredients would make the eggrolls not only delicious but tender as well. The fish sauce that came with the eggrolls barely covered the bottom of the of the ramekin....really? The two pieces of eggrolls were served one rinky dink little piece of lettuce which would make it IMPOSSIBLE to wrap even a quarter of a piece of their so-called bland eggrolls. And where were the fresh herbs? Vietnamese eggrolls are typically served with enough fresh herbs and lettuce to wrap with. Oh I knew it was gonna go down hill from there. Our entrées came after waiting a while. Though I was hoping for the best, my expectations didn't fail me. A total F as a grade for the entrees! The presentation looked as if my three year old had put it together. The grilled pork rice dish was terrible! It lacked presentation, roasted peanuts, scallion oil, and (again) fresh herbs. The fried noodles that I ordered for my kids were inedible...

Now as for the service, our waitress did not mention anything about the free appetizers that come with entrees that was mentioned on their sign. As a matter of fact, she didn't mention any specials at all to us. Come to find out, I noticed other servers mentioning specials to their tables. Straws were not offered with our drinks. I had to asked for them and didn't know if that is their protocol. We were rushed to order and felt like just another number. Needless to say, I will never go back.

I also have to say that I have paid so much for Vietnamese food before. Way over priced, especially for lackluster food and service. For a fraction of the cost, if you are looking for good Vietnamese cuisine, I have found a place in Haltom City called My Lan. Food difference is night and day at a fraction of the cost. Two full size entrees, two orders of egg rolls, an order of spring rolls, and iced coffee for $36 during lunch hours.
