LOOK ELSE WHERE!

Noise: You can literally hear everything. The walls are so thin! I can hear a full conversation, every single step the neighbors take, and the floors constantly squeaks!

Grounds: IF YOU HAVE DOG, DO NOT COME HERE! The apartments are invested with fleas and the apartments WILL NOT do anything about it. My dog had hundreds and hundreds of them on him and brought them into the house. You can even bring the fleas into your house without having any animals. While I was taking out the garbage, they jumped on me. You can bring them into your house without even knowing it.

Safety: They allow people to grill on their patios. It's a fire hazard and they even have a sticker on the sliding glass stating it is prohibited but the apartments don't care. If you plan on moving here, I suggest getting renter's insurance. The police have constantly had to come here a lot due to fights. Not the safest place for your family.

Staff: The staff is very unprofessional! They are very rude and talk to you with disrespect. I complained on my neighbors 5 times and the problem is still not fixed. The staff LIES. I complained on the flea issue and they said we were the only one who have this problem and they need more complaints. I've talked to people who were walking their dogs if they complained and they have. Apartments told them the same thing. DO NOT TRUST THESE APARTMENTS. Your problems will not be solve and when you need to talk to them, they are nothing but rude to you and are not afraid to lie to your face.

Advice: DO NOT MOVE HERE, the PRICE is not worth your MISERY. I have lived in nothing but apartment my whole life and this is by far the worst experience I have had. LOOK ELSE WHERE.

I lived in Garden Gate apartments in 2010. I was a victim of domestic violence from the other person on my lease. For my 3-month-old-child's and my safety, I broke the lease, giving them as much notice as possible. They leased the unit to someone else exactly two months later, yet they charged me well over $3,000 for breaking the lease. Now, at the time, I was very naive, and had never heard of the Texas Property Code, much less read it. So, as not to mess up my credit report, I started to make payments on the balance. I eventually paid it down by about $1,000. About that time, I read the Texas Property Code which clearly states that a tenant can break a lease and be freed of liability if a victim of domestic violence involving a co-tenant. Upon realizing this, I called Heather McDonald, the property manager to discuss with her. They agreed to knock off another $1,500 or so, because in their words, "That unit was leased almost immediately, you should've never been charged that" (never mind the domestic violence), leaving me with about a balance of $800, that still to this day shows up on my credit report and causes me issues when signing a new lease. Heather has so brilliantly informed me just today that "there is no legal reason to break a lease in Texas" and insists that even though the co-tenant was "beating the crap out of me" (these are Heather's words, which she yelled at me, repeatedly), I still OWE THEM MONEY, because I broke the contract. Her manager, Linda Gross with First Choice Management company, has opted not to return my phone calls for about 15 months.

So beware, if you plan to move in here, be prepared to deal with some ignorant, uncompassionate, and completely unprofessional scum. If you read reviews on other websites, you will see many stories that corroborate what I've said about Heather McDonald. She is a certified verbally-abusive, uninformed idiot. I am a licensed real estate agent and when I asked her if she's taken any real estate courses or training in the Texas Property Code, she informed me that I was verbally abusing her by "attacking her character" and that I was not to call her office anymore. I guess I could take that as a "NO". She then forwarded me the chain of emails that proves she's ignored my requests for over a year. Clearly, she is a smart one. Be prepared for what you will deal with at this apartment complex. I will tell anyone with whom I come into contact to NEVER lease there. They are ignorant about the laws which govern their behavior... that alone should make you suspicious.
