Always great. Our go to restaurant for decades. The best Mexican food in Tejas! Can't wait to go there for the next birthday or anniversary celebration.

Me and my husband wanted to have a special valentines dinner, but early in the week to avoid the crowds. So Tues. we decided to make the drive to El Rancho Grande 30 mins away. When we showed up we started to walk in and apparently the owner informed us they were closed, and I then asked my husband what time it was, because I thought I had lost track of time. But no it was 7:30, then she informed us that there was still one other table there so they would seat us. I asked are you sure?? She said yes they were just going to close early because it had been slow...Professional.. We should have left, they seemed irritated by our presence, and we felt they were trying to hurry us out of there. After they brought out our food it wasn't long before the candles were blown out and chairs put up and then the waiter comes by to mention it was last call for alcohol, and wanted to know if we wanted anything else? Then we ordered one more beer, and then the music was shut off. The food was ok, the salsa was more like tomato sauce. We asked if they had something more spicy, and they did, it actually had some flavor. I am from El Paso and know really good Mexican food and this isn't it. It was a bit above average to me, but how we were treated was wrong. It was supposed to be special, and it was far from that. I wish she had just turned us away if they wanted to go home; 730 to close is ridiculous to me.. If you want really good Mexican or Texmex go for La Margarita in Irving, or Hacienda Ranch in Grapevine.. Waaaaay better food and service!!! I wish I had took my husbands suggestion and just went somewhere else when she said they were closed.

Great For Decades

Have enjoyed El Rancho Grande for many decades. Always delicious and slightly different from the usual Tex-Mex. Highly recommended. Efficient and courteous take-out, too, but the menu on this site appears to be unrelated to what this restaurant offers.

BEST MEXICAN FOOD YOU CAN FIND

I love coming here for over 15 years never had bad food or service. I will continue to be a regular customer for 15 more years and it is worth the drive from Cedar Hill!!!!!!

Excellent Beef enchiladas, course beef and garlic make them a unique treat. Their chips and salsa are also a different type that will keep you coming back for more. Yes parking is not tops and is usually crowded, but there's a good reason for that. I also notice they hire off duty police to watch the parking lot, which makes you feel a little better about being out of sight of your vehicle as well as walking to and fro.... I was sad when they quit taking press pass, but I guess they don't need it...

My FAVORITE Tex-Mex restaurant in all of the metroplex. Best chips, salsa and homemade corn tortillas anywhere. My only complaint?? they're closed on Sundays.

Certainly not the best mexican food in town. The restraunt is crowded and VERY loud. Parking is very limited also. Once you get inside it's hot and sticky because the tables are crammed so close together. Food was average at best.
