Cook Children's Hospital has the practice of sending debts owed to Cook's to collection agencies that break State and Federal debt collection laws. Cook Children's sends the names of "contact persons" those who are listed as emergency contacts, on admissions documents to debt collections companies for the purpose of extorting grandparents or other family members to pay the medical expenses that they were unable to collect from the children's parents. Vile, illegal practice!

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT use Cook Children's in Fort Worth! The ONLY reason I'm giving them one star is because YP is making me. Worst service EVER!!! I will NEVER use them again. EVER! There are so many reasons not to use them that I don't know where to start. They made my poor brother wait for HOURS while he had SEVERAL BROKEN BONES in his hand without ANY medication. On top of everything else, their staff was rude and incompetent, which made the whole already traumatic experience even worse. Here's the tip of the day: if they offer to set up a "payment plan" for what your deductible doesn't cover--DON'T, I repeat, DON'T do it. They "lost" ALL of the payments we made to them and then sent our bill to a debt collector for the full amount.

Came into ER at 1 a.m. and it's now 8:15 a.m. Terrible experience. Unprofessional nursing staff. Would suggest going to Children's Medical Center in Dallas.

My daughter age 17 was referred to the orthopedic department of Cooks. After nearly two weeks, we were told that they did not have the doctor's notes they required to give a second opinion on Surgery. This is not what we were told when we first called, and when we finally got them the information they needed, I was told that Dr. Andrews would not take the case because my daughter was 17, and sent us back to the referring physician. They had my daughters age from DAY ONE there was no reason to delay on this for another 2 weeks. Our family is at our maximum outpatient for the year, a situation we have said many many times. The fact that they took 2 weeks to tell us our daughter was too old is completely unacceptable. I am deeply dissatisfied with the communication and honesty of the cook's orthopedic department and suggest you go to Children's in Dallas.

REALLY impressed with Cooks! We had to take our daughter to the ER and she was admitted a few hours later. The docs and staff were AMAZING. They love kids and it shows. They never talked down to us. They never argued. They were always very respectful and kind. The docs are down to earth and will chat for a long time about any and every concern you have. I typically hate docs and hospitals and this was the best experience I've ever had in the medical world.

WORST SERVICE EVER

Whatever the circumstance do NOT bring your child to cooks children's emergency department. I brought my son in at 11 pm and it is now 6 am. The staff is rude and treat you like you have no idea what your talking about. They are uncaring and don't even try to tell you when u will be helped. THIS IS THE WORST ER IN THE DFW. There are children vomiting with fevers and they do nothing about it. It's absolutely sickening. If I could have this ER publicly put on the news I would, just to show everyone how BAD they are. Terrible horrid I can't find the words to describe my distaste for this place. It's repulsive.

Cook's Children Emergency Room Nightmare

My granddaughter was brought to this hospital by ambulance for a seizure and very high temperature over 102 degrees. We have been waiting for over 12 hours and she still hasn't been seen by a doctor. The staff at the desks are rude and doesn't possess quality customer service skills. They treat you like cattle at a meat market. The staff is mainly white and the patients are black and brown children (minority) . Their is no sense of care for these kids. I am totally scare for my grand child and the lack of treatment.

Nurse walked in the room and said I thought you already left. We ate so shocked of the service. Think twice to cone to this poor service hospital. Cook children's Medical center at Forth Worth is the worst service ever! I am writing from the hospital..

if you're ever referred to the...

if you're ever referred to the C.A.R.E. team run for the hills they are trying to make a name for themselves as child abuse experts. they will say your childs injuries are 100% child abuse and call CPS who will not listen to you. they say they have to listen to Dr. if you have proof that injuries can happen other ways the female Dr. will tell you the 100-200 Dr.s who wrote reports are all wrong because she is a child abuse expert. she should have her medical license revoked she is a rude B word. and it's not because your black because she is too, it's because you use medicaid or some other low income insurance. oh by the way C.A.R.E. has nothing to do with caring it stands for Child Abuse Response and Evaluation they should be shut down. check the Dr.s rankings it's pretty easy to find they are all at the very bottom. i hate uneducated, educated people.

Great place for your children!!!

My son was born here with the assistance of the midwives, and we have been back for several emergency room visits (new mother), and even for a surgery. Everyone that we have come in contact with from this hospital has been outstanding. Well, i do wish that my son's infectious disease doctor was more polite, but other than that, everyone has been great. It really sucks that such a great hospital is right in the center of such a crap hole. White trash and ghetto alert, if you have more than two brain cells and a vocabulary that consists of more than ten words, you will be a bit put off by your fellow hospital goers. Not saying that i am better than someone, but the things you hear people say while sitting in a waiting area would astound you! That aside, this is the best hospital for children. Also, the reviews for the number going to a fax machine must be out dated. I have that same number in my phone and call when needed, i have never gotten a fax tone.

Disrespectful Staff and some racisim.

I would not recommend Cook Children's Hospital because it doesn't support or cater to the support of the family, as a whole if you are any other race then white.

I have never ever been spoken to in such a disrespectful manner in my life with some of the staff that is not even my childs physician. Some of the staff members love to throw their years of experience and who they are in this hospital but, yet their attitude stinks.

The physicians are great but the nursing staff needs communication training.

Overall, during our experience there, we were left with the feeling of being helpless and undermined as the foundational care of our own child - and we will do anything in the future, even if it means driving to another city, to take our child to a different hospital.

Good Ole Boy Employment

Many minorities have applied for positions within the CCHSIT department and have been denied because of our race. We are all documenting our experiences with portable cameras and voice recorders. We have joined together to exploit hiring decision in Texas and how it is so undiversified in certain areas of the good ole state. We have all communicated with the likes of HR reps and have confirmed with him that minorities are not welcomed in their systems. Stay tuned and look out for our blogs online.
