This place is nice enough to live in if you're living off a fixed income. But like all places has its hangups. Maintenance is pretty lousy. When I moved in my sink was clogged and the sliding closets were off the hinges. Took them three weeks to fix that. There's only four people on staff and two of them speak little English. They are supposed to pour salt on the sidewalks during winter and take their time doing so. Speaking of which your electric will skyrocket during cold months. Everything is electric and that is the only bill you pay. Between October and January, my bill went from $13.06 to $187.56. Once you decided to use the heater, leave it on. Turning it off will not save any money, I learned that the hard way. Other than that this place is good. The manager was very nice to me. It's quiet most of the time. Neighbors occasionally are loud but it's not a constant noise. If you're just starting out like I was, this place is a good learning experience.

The electric bill in these apartments is sky high. Mostly because of the heater, but also because the hot water and the stove are now also electrical, my monthly bill from I & M averaged $107--for only 520 sq. ft.! The four winter months totalled over $800. I was told they recently cut down every tree and shrub and it looks like a concentration camp with no privacy.

Ever since they got new ownership and new management this apt complex has improved. Maintenance staff is now responsive and the new units are very nice. They don't have laundry facilities but for the price and location it is a good deal.

NOT RECOMMENDABLE

When my husband and I first came here about an apartment, we thought that it would be a nice place to live. However, it turned out completely different.

First, after signing the lease, the lady in the office became very rude with my husband who has perepheral artery disease in both legs. With moving in, she informed him that he could not pull up close enough for us to unload. My husband could not walk very far without severe pain (since then he has had surgery done on both legs), but she expected him to. And the other lady in the office was very rude towards us also. Believe me, if we knew all that was going to be going on at this place, they wouldn't have got our money nor would we have signed a lease with them.

Two days after moving in, our kitchen sink got clogged up. My husband went out and got Drain-O and other stuff to try to get it unclogged, but none worked. I contacted the office to get maintenance out. At first, they jumped to the conclusion that we poured grease down the sink - and we didn't. The maintenance guy then told us that the office said that for him to fix the sink , we would have to pay them $50. We didn't cause the problem and we refused to pay it. They used different size things to go in, but they didn't work. My husband then bought an auger for over $100 and it still didn't help. It turned out that they had a busted pipe on the outside sometime before we moved in and old tree roots and other things are what clogged it up.We had to do without water for two days because of this incident and during this time we had to use bottled water for cooking and had to do dishes in the bathtub.

Next: The new heaters that they put in. They told us the new heaters that they installed would be cheaper on electric and would keep the place warmer. No. It was the opposite. The way the heaters are made, the heat blows beneath the curtains in which blocks most of the warmth. Our electric bill for the first month was over $200. And whenever it snowed and the ice would begin to melt, the water would drip down the sides of the wall.

Then, just a few weeks ago, I was on the phone with my husband when i heard a loud noise like it was pouring rain. I walked over to the kitchen window and looked but didn't see any rain. I then got a glimpse of smoke coming out from under the sink. I panicked because I thought something was on fire. I opened up the cabinet door and hot water was gushing everywhere. I grabbed the phone and called the emergency number to get help out as quickly as possible. Here my husband was on the other side of town and still made it before help from the company arrived.By the time maintenance arrived (about 45 minutes later), my kitchen and bathroom were flooded, half the living room and it had already started to soak the bedroom floor. It took two days for the carpets to finally get dry.

Next: Back in December, I called the office after we got that winter storm with the strong winds. It blew our screen door open and shattered the glass out of it. I requested someone to come out and fix it. I am the one who had to go out and clean the glass up. And here it is 3 months later, and they still haven't fixed it. They also have one over at Apt 13 that the glass was shattered out about a month ago and the glass is still laying all over the place. Nobody wants to clean it up.

The one very rude lady mentioned to me that 'they have been having lots of people moving out in the middle of the night' lately. And it makes you wonder why?? Who wants to deal with these rude people? Who wants to live where the company doesn't want to fix the living conditions up? Nobody.

As far as we are considered, we didn't 'walk out' on them, they broke the lease by not taking care of the property to make sure that he living standards were up to the way they should be. And yes, I am prepared. If they want to sue, they can. I made sure that I got pictures to prove my points here.
