Gas station, convenience store and restaurant - I was happy with the fact that I came across Carter's Grocery when I did as I was on fumes driving back to Vero Beach from Sebring, Florida. Gas was a tad bit higher than normal - $2.49/9 a gallon for regular but when you're "on walk" you don't complain much.

I wasn't that hungry but since everyone else seemed to be eating, I ordered the home cooked fried chicken plate along with Cowboy caviar - field peas, black beans, corn and fresh veggie dip - with chips and crackers. Huge portions and great taste. Dinner roll on the side. I took it "to go" and ate it on the way home. No time to dine at the restaurant when traveling.

Restrooms were outside toward the back. They weren't anything to write home about, but they served the primary - and number 1 - purpose.

Friendly staff and a "local" flare. 4 stars to Carter's Grocery, west of Fort Pierce, Florida.
