the entire staff was unkind. my 8 yr. old had service here and the old lady in registration had an awful attitude when telling me to pay my co-pay for surgery. she never greeted us, she in fact acted bothered. then the security officer acted as if we should not be there. lol. do you think we want to walk into a hospital to begin with, especially with rude staff, my son had major surgery and the last thing that we should be worried about is attitude from staff, an uncaring, in-compassionate attitude at that. The Lee Memorial hospital location has much better staff all around. Hopefully we'll never have to go to Gulf Coast Medical Center again.

Once I made it past the heartless triage and 6 hour wait with a first time gallbladder attack there were Angels of mercy waiting to help me in the back. I only had one twerpy 20 something nurse tell me she wasn't having a party and would get me my pain meds as soon as she could. The others were super sweet and I LOVED the Doctor.

Avoid the ER! The standard of care is deplorable! I've been here with a family member for 6 hours now and she is stuck in a gurney in the middle of the hallway! They are triageing patients in the hall. I know everything about all of these other patients. What about HIPPA? Terrible ER.

My mother was admitted twice for mini-strokes at this facility. The service was outstanding. Everyone was very caring and considerate. This is the place I want to go if anything happens to me. My mother was there for 7 days and then again for another 7 days. Very professional! and caring.

I cannot believe all of these negative reviews... I had surgery on the 7th of March and was discharged on the 9th.I have nothing but good and positive feedback on this hospital.. 1) excellent doctors, thank you Dr. Pescitelli for your intelligence and compassion. 2) the nurses on the 4th floor (my room4256) were great everyone of them old ,young, black, white, nothing but professional..... But one nurse really stood out and she should know what an impact she had on my visit and my recovery .CHARMAINE thank you so much for everything,, dont ever change.. when walking down the hall I saw .her interact with other patients and she simply is the Best..... I can't say enough about her -she is an asset to LMHS . the hospital food A+ Cleanliness and sterile procedures followed (and I watched everyone) A+. No complaints hereand thank you for not over medicating me. Keep up the good work...patti f.

Worst hospital in SW Florida. All doctors work FOR the hospital so don't expect your own doctor to see and treat you here. Very young nurses who are undertrained. Evening staff couldn't care less about you. Constantly hear how busy they are. Keep it to yourself! Supervisors are no better. Most staff are nice enough, but need way more skills. Just an overall bad experience. Oh, I also had an unnecessary surgery in there. Found out nothing showed on my test results , but the surgeon went ahead and did it anyway.

Stay healthy, all, or avoid this corporate money-grubbing "hospital" like the plague! One star for the very efficient care and quick completion of tests. Also like the paperless record-keeping and PC in the room they use. Amazing technology. But never forget, these are like earrings on a pig...it's still a pig. Bravo to the few staff who really put the pt 1st.

worst hospital ive been in. I ...

Worst hospital ive been in. I do not have insurance because i cant afford it. I had trouble breathing, was taken by ambulance to this hospital. the nurse and doctor was plain NASTY. I was told by the Dr, that because i was self pay, i cant afford an xray so they werent taking any so i mite as well leave, that there was nothing they could do and the DR rudely walked away and that was it. They refused to give me my paper work, they refused to give me the Dr's name stating " we cant give you Dr's name", they refused to let me speak to any administrator. I am now filing complaints with the state against the hospital and DR Quack. So your not entitled to know the name of the quack who's seeing you? NEVER GO TO THIS HOSPITAL! Its death waiting for you if your poor!

HORRIBLE hospital! The ER doc...

HORRIBLE hospital! The ER doctor prescribed heperin WHILE MY HUSBAND WAS ALREADY ON PRADAXA ..... Dr. did NOT remove Pradaxa, so from Wedn to Saturday, my husband got DOUBLE DOSE OF BLOOD THINNER!! He was bruising all over his arm, got very low blood pressure, dark urine and started to get confused! I am the one who CAUGHT the mistake when I asked the nurse what medication are you giving him? I had her to try to reach the doctor (no answers) and then to call the pharmacist who 'will check into it"..... then finally they stopped the Heparin! This was a DANGEROUS mixing of medication that no one bored to check (NOT the Doctor who prescribed it, NOT the pharmacists who send the prescription to patient room, NOT any nurses who give the medication!) I will NEVER EVER return to that hospital, nor wil I EVER recommend it. I am not letting this mistake get away..... if you need hospital care and/or ER - GO TO THE OTHER HOSPITAL - HEALTH PARK ON BASS ROAD INSTEAD.... THAT one is the best, from staff, doctors, nurses, food, ambiance, etc....

The nurses are all evil, male ...

The nurses are all evil, male and female. Do not go here. I thought nurses were supposed to be caring and kind. According to the staff at Gulf Coast this is not true. I have been in emergency rooms maybe 10 times around in my life before going to Gulf Coast and never met an unpleasant person til I met the nurses at Gulf Coast. I even filed a complaint with customer service against 2 specific nurses. Stay away if you can.

I had back surgery in may of 09

Over all my stay was good. From the start the admissions people were very nice, every thing was done in a friendly and speedy way. The nurses were very nice, and patient with me and I must admit I wasn't very nice at times to them. For that i am sorry. The food was very good and plenty of it if you wanted. All in all I was impressed.
