The New York City Department of Environmental Protection is administered by the government of The City of New York. The department is responsible for the protection, conservation and maintenance of the city s environment and ecosystem. Its Office of the Agency Chief Contracting Officer handles matters related to procurement, such as competitive sealed bids, requests for proposals, contract payments, state prevailing wage laws and small purchases through the Department of Citywide Administrative Service. The department administers the custom services, environmental compliance, wastewater treatment, water supply, and engineering design and construction divisions. The New York City Department of Environmental Protection s Office of Education coordinates a range of environmental programs for students in kindergarten through grade 12, as well as for teachers.
