Bank of Floyd was founded in 1951, with the consolidation of The Floyd County Bank and the Peoples Bank of Floyd County, which both date back to the late 1800s. The bank has six locations in Roanoke, Christiansburg, Hillsville, Salem and Willis, Va. Cardinal Bankshares Corporation, a one-bank holding company was formed in 1996 with the Bank of Floyd as the sole subsidiary.
