When my Husband and I joined, we were told that anyone could suspend a membership for medical reasons with a Doctor's note. I am pregnant for the third time (the first two did not go to term). Since this is a high-risk pregnancy, my Doctor faxed a note stating I was to refrain from exercising for the next 8 months. They called me and said the didn't want to do a suspension that longand suggested I cancel. By suspending my membership for 8 months, they are not losing any money but only maintaining a relationship with a customer. It's sad that a facility that promotes fitness and health would not accomodate a customer with a high-risk pregnancy. Needless to say, my Husband and I have cancelled and will be joining the new Golds Gym in the area. Just beware about what they tell you regarding Doctors' notes. I can't imagine loyal customers with a fracture or undergoing some sort of surgery being forced to cancel and pay a membership fee all over again because they won't accept the advice of a medical professional????
