Had Phil make us two tanks for our boat seven years ago. He insisted we get them powder coated also, we paid the extra fee, not really knowing what it was. Seven years later, both tanks are leaking. Both were properly grounded, this powder coat he insisted we get, is now something he claims he would never recommend. By the way, it was never powder coated, just coated with an epoxy paint, the type used to do a garage floor. After taking my pitted, leaking tanks to an expert, it was explained that they likely used a substandard alloy metal on our tank. Something that should last 20 years, got me barely to seven. Actually less, because we saw fuel in the bilge last year, and would not accept our tanks failed already. For the record, I called alloy metal works about this, the man who answered the phone, was not surprised at this at all. Phil offered to "take a look, and patch what was leaking". Unfortunately, the tanks are beyond patching, and ready for the scrap yard.
