Selected a kitten to adopt, but had to wait over 30 days to take her home due to being so young. During that time, I visited her several times a week, when I noticed the kitten and her litter mates starting to get ill. After alerting both the staff and management several times over the course of a few days, nothing was done, except to send the kitten off to be spayed. After a vet had supposedly signed off on her health, I picked her up 2 days later noting she had thick nasal discharge and partially closed eyes.

After bringing her home, she fell critically ill, unable to eat or stand without falling over. When she worsened after a misdiagnosis at Aloha Animal Hospital in Vista, I took her to the Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Escondido. Barely able to breath and clinging to life, there she was diagnosed with life-threatening bacterial, viral and parasite infections so severe and contagous, she was placed in isolation where she received IV fluids, meds and hand feeding with a dropper. Although the cost for all this was several thousand dollars, this sweet little kitten pulled through.

To my chagrin, I contracted several of the infections and almost died, requiring emergency medical care. Not only that, but also my 5 other cats also became ill and are having to undergo treatment.

I found out from an insider at this rescue that the kitten's litter mates and mother were all quaranteened the very next day after I picked up the kitten. Yet, I did not receive even so much as a courtesy call from them alerting me to the possibility a problem. So not only are they willfully negligent in failing to be responsible enough to contact me, but they are culpable of ignoring the situation when it was brought to their attention in the first place and also in the expenses and heartache I and my animals have had to endure as a result of what should have been a simple and straight forward adoption.

So animal lover's beware - not only are you risking the health of your current pets should you adopt an animal from here, the life at stake could very well be your own...

I happened to be at the sanctuary on the day that this women was there with her daughter. She was rude, obnoxious and kept doing things she was asked not to do. She was finally asked to leave. There are always two sides to a story.

I took my 15 yr. old daughter to Fallbrook animal sanctuary as we often do to volunteer to give human contact with the cats. This day on sat. 12/13/14 we are visiting and unknown to me my daughter was over by a parrot and the old lady up front desk who I was told never goes to the back where animals are, and starts yelping at me to keep my daughter supervised and not to stick her fingers in birds cage, I tell her that's fine I will tell her. One of the employee's who is always there and we see all the time apologizes and stated she didn't know why she was acting this way, she never comes to the back. My daughter asked if we could go visit the dogs and I stated let me ask first, so I did with another volunteer or employee and she stated this would be fine. Again this same old miserable old lady comes back and starts mouthing off and yelling at my daughter and I for being back there and accusing us of not following the rules. We have been to the shelter numerous times and know what is expected. This old lady with short brown hair and dark glasses proceeds to follow me within inches of my back and hovering over me and my daughter, I ask her to get away from me and she proceeds to call me a smartass, so I tell my daughter that we are leaving so we can avoid anymore contact with this miserable human being. I proceed to get in front of my daughter walking out and I hear from my daughter "don't push me" this old lady who is a employee or volunteer put her hands on my daughter and shoved her! I turned to this lady and stated I would be calling the Sheriff and she turned and called my daughter a "punk". I called Sheriff to file a complaint. Stay away from this shelter, besides the sick animals they have disturbed faculity.
