Month of JULY Benchmark delive...

Month of JULY Benchmark delivered the roofing supplies and said that they would be there in 1-2 days to do the job. No one ever came. I called and kept getting either the run around or they would just not return my calls.Some of the stories that I was told when they decided to return my calls were that the group that was supposed to do our roof “lost their license.” Then when they did not show again we were told that someone on the crew had been "injured." I called corporate and spoke to another man. I told him that the materials had been sitting in our front yard for over 2 months. The materials have killed our grass and are growing mold underneath the shrink wrap. Benchmark scheduled to come out on the date of 10/31/11. I had to call them to see why they did not show on 10/31/11, and they said there was a chance of rain so they could not come. They should have called me. They rescheduled for the next day 11/1/2011. They were supposed to be at our house at 9 am. I took the entire morning off of work. I own my own business so I LOST money taking the morning off. By 10:30 am I called them to see what was happening and why they never showed. They said that we should have been called and that they have "no idea" why the crew did not come. I told them to cancel our contract and refund my money immediately I called my insurance to find out how this situation would be handled, and they said that they wanted to call Benchmark first to find out what is going on. According to my insurance agent, Benchmark said that the materials had not been sitting there for 2 months. This is total BS! They have been sitting here for AT LEAST 3 months, close to four. They also told my insurance agent that they were ready to do the job and that they were just “waiting on the delivery of some of the materials from Lowes.”They also tried to say that they could not come any other days since July because it “rained every day.” It did not rain “every day” since the month of July. My insurance agent suggested that we stay with them, since I have been unable to find another contractor before winter – since it is so late in the year already and they are all booked up. He also stated that we should not let the roof sit through another winter and cause more damage. So I called Benchmark again and spoke to Eric and told him that I wanted them to come out the next day to do our roof, since we were unable to find another contractor and our roof cannot sit through the winter. They had the audacity to tell me that they may have scheduled “other customers” and so they did not know when they could get to us! Eric also said that they have some licensing issues and internal communication problems. He then gave us the number of a woman named "Stephanie" who he said was the one responsible to do the roof to begin with. He said he could never get in contact with her so he does not know why she never showed up when we had scheduled for them to come. We demanded her phone number. When we called her she said that she tried to go to Lowes Monday morning and that the company had neglected to approve the purchase of our materials so she could not get the materials to do the roof! It was unbelievable. We then later received a call from Eric after he had found out we had gotten i n touch with Stephanie and he left a very unprofessional message on our voice mail stating that Stephanie must have told us "some stories." After this Benchmark made a deal with us verbally. We thought everything was settled. When we received the details of the renegotiated contract through email, we realized that the numbers had been changed and it WAS NOT what we had agreed upon over the phone. Finally we had had enough. We demanded that Benchmark refund us for work lost and fix our yard. They have refused.

My experience was great from the initial visit to the cleanup when the job was done. The roof was done in a day, no mess left behind and I saved almost 15% from some of the other big name Cincinnati roofing companies after getting 3 estimates. They did what they said they would do and I have recommended them to all of my friends and family because of it. Overall I would have no problem having Ben or Roger (salesman I dealt with) inspect and estimate any type of roofing situation. Thanks guys and I will send you as many jobs as I can.
