The bay areas best kept secret.
Absolutely answered prayer. After a desperate search, with "interesting" feedback from different shops, I was led to Golden Gate.
Matt took my car the next day, had the work done while I waited.
No fuss, no baloney. Offered to show me the part removed--appreciated.
Also, at a fraction of the cost other shops were quoting.
Thank you! Faith in humanity restored.

Had my car dropped off for a quick diagnostic test. Mat is very personable and friendly and glad to have a chat while we waited for the tow truck. Nice guy.

Matt was very honest and reasonable. 4 rotors replaced and brake pads. They were really bad, now they are great. Would do future business there. Very friendly too.

He is a very nice person and very much deserves five stars. He has an employee that is older, much more worn and very nasty.

The owner Matthew is genuine and honest. Been taking our cars here the last 4 years. Never charged us outrageous prices. Always gets our cars done quickly. Highly recommend!

Sooo happy I came to this place. My check engine light come on monday. Called the hobby shop on travis afb (i work on base so i figured it be more convenient ) told them my light was on, they told me 40 to check. Brought it to them the next morning found out it was 89. They had my car all day. When it was ready they called n told me 885 to replace my water pump. I said no way! They offered me credit card if i needed help paying...i told them no thank you.

Came on here saw Golden Gate and the reviews so i called the place (wed). The guy told me it would take a couple secs to check and he would do it for free. Went by that day, like he said it took only secs to check n quoted me 400. He checked my liquids found out i was bone dry. Filled me up so i can get home. The hobby shop didn't tell me anything. Brought it in Thursday morning he was done by 12. He didn't charge me for the belts either! From 885 to 400 n free belts can't beat that.

I think i finally found my mechanic. YES!

I am so glad I found this mechanic. I called in the morning about an electrical wiring problem (rat chewed wires and disabled driver side window and door/window controls) and the owner Matt was able to check it out same day. I dropped off the car at 1:30pm and it was ready by 4pm. Everything works perfectly now and he charged me way less than if I had brought it to the Volkswagen dealership . I am extremely satisfied with the outcome and definitely recommend him to my friends. Some people may take offense to Matt"s sarcastic sense of humor but don't let that deter you-this is a honest, affordable and quality business. I will be a repeat customer!

My car broken down on the way to Napa (with my mom and sisters in the car, for my mom's birthday weekend). Golden Gate was the only shop available in the area without needing an appointment on Saturday, had my part on-hand and also charged an honest price!

I got my car fixed and was quickly on our way to Napa. Matt and his team made a very bad situation, a world of a difference. Can't thank him enough.

Stopped by without an appointment to see if they could check my car out as my ac was not working. Matt helped and my car was worked on right away. Waited an hour and everything was good to go!

Matt is amazing! My car was broken into in San Francisco by the passengers side window being smashed in and I needed to get my car cleaned of the glass as well as have the window replaced. Not only was he cheaper than the other places but he cleaned out all the glass in my car by taking out my seat. He told me it took him about 2 hrs to clean it all out (which I believe for how much the glass flew all over the place) and he only charged me for 20 minutes!

Feel free to call around for quotes, but you'll find that Mark has the best deals. He is genuine in his work and extremely friendly. Plus his hair is awesome (though he said he likes to cut it off on the summer so if you want to get the full effect only break your car in the winter time, haha).

Matt is a very honest guy and truly cares and is very friendly.....you must go see him before anyone as he will give you the most affordable prices. He is GREAT!!!

Yahoo is correct with the 5 stars! Golden gate is as good as it gets! Ive had my car worked on here a few times and I enjoy the honesty that Matt provides. It is hard to find people you can trust with your car but I have found the place to go!

I did not have any automotive work performed on my car here; BUT these guys that work here (especially the owner) were extremely helpful, humble, and attentive. I had ran out of gas off of Airbase PKWY and after walking to four different locations asking for help these guys were the only ones who extended a helping hand with a gas can and some gas. This kind of stuff isn't going on around this world we live in anymore. People have become so enveloped in themselves that the simple common courtesy of lending a helping hand if at all possible has died. These gentleman and especially the owner of this shop kept it real old fashioned, teasing me and cracking jokes about my stupidity when it came to running out of gas but at the end of the day he not only lent me his gas can he also put in 2-3 gallons for me. If this doesn't speak volumes of the type of repair shop this is then I don't know what else would I mean this is as family oriented and home feel as a automotive repair shop could get. I would confidently refer anyone to this shop based off of this little encounter I had with the people who worked here. Thanks so much for your guy's help and assistance.

Have used Golden Gate a number of times over the last few years for things including replacing a fuel pump on our Chevy Tahoe and various maintenance jobs. The latest was repairing the heater/AC fan on my Honda. Matt has always come through for us. He's a knowledgeable guy and he tells it like it is. It's nice to have a good repair shop so close to home. Highly recommend.
