Founded in 1973, the Resource Center for Parents and Children is a nonprofit organization that offers parenting education classes, family support services, child abuse prevention programs, and in-house, local and national resources in Alaska. The center offers women, infant and children supplementary food program, which offers nutrition and health education for pregnant women, new mothers and young children. The Resource Center for Parents and Children also operates the child advocacy center that provides forensic interviews and medical examinations for sexually abused children. Located in Fairbanks, Alaska, the center is a chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America (PCA), which is one of the leading organizations working at the national, state and local levels to prevent the abuse and neglect of children in the United States. Headquartered in Chicago, PCA America has a network of chapters in more than 45 states for public awareness, education, prevention programs, advocacy and research.
