Dr. Yamamoto grew up in Southern California and attended undergraduate studies at University of Oregon and San Diego State University graduating with high honors. Accepted at several dental schools, he chose the University of California at San Francisco which is rated in the top 20 schools in the country. They have a very strong technical emphasis in their curriculum. Dr Yamamoto went through UCSF on an Army scholarship program and served as an Army general dentist from 1981-1985, also spending subsequent years in the reserve. He has been in private practice from 1985 to the present and loves his practice and patients. He has been married to Leslie since 1979 and they care for their autistic 31 year old son, Stuart. They were instrumental in developing the Morningstar Ranch program for families who have disabled children. Their family attends Bethel Church in Fairbanks. His hobbies include hunting and fishing. He is also involved in leading tours to Europe where his uncles fought during WWII. He is involved with WWII veterans groups attending yearly reunions.
