I am a current employee. I felt Highpoint needed an up to date review as the existing ones are ones based on past directors and employees.

The director is amazing. She is very involved with the children. She takes time to visit and participate in each classroom's day. She is very approachable and personable to both parents and co-workers.

Highpoint is very aware of the need and importance of keeping the rooms and toys clean. The classrooms are disinfected several times a day and toys are constantly being rotated to be properly cleaned and sanitized.

Each teacher is is required to prepare a weekly lesson plan that meets the standards for each age group and is approved by the director.

All teachers make sure the classrooms are bright and cheery and each child in their room have the proper learning materials.
The discipline is very appropriate which usually involves having the child to sit out during playtime.
( minutes per year)

This is a great place to work if you love small children and have a passion for teaching and watching them learn and grow.

Highpoint is much more than a daycare.

Former employee that witnessed things parents should considering about this daycare
Teachers are told to scream at children so they behave, i have worked in many children's centers this is not normal. The rooms were not set up appropriately for the different age groups. the toys are filthy. no changing tables meant diapers are changed on dirty bathroom floors. no floor stool for the children to stand on and wash their hands. The toys for the two year old room are too small for the age group. A two year old boy choked on one of these toys. before I could perform the Heimlich, he vomited the toy on to the floor. I told the director but don't believe she reported the incident to the parents. The small toys are still there.
The training toilets broke. human feces in the toilets for weeks we would catch the kids playing in the toilet everyday. repeated reminders to the director to get fixed led nowhere was told to put trash bag over toilet. There was no lock to keep kids out. it didn't work
There were suspicions of abuse, one child would show up with mysterious marks on his body, always afraid and uneasy any attempts to talk with him were followed by cowering on the floor. especially if asked to put a toy away. Director was told she responded by asking me to tell the parents. later in the month a child came to daycare with a massive rash covering the whole front and back of his body. suspected abuse again. the director wasn't going to do anything so I got advice from a friend while on break who advised me to report to CPS. five hours later, I was fired.
The daycare did make an attempt to cover up many of these issues just before state inspection.

Not as organized as it seems

My daughter went here for a few months, and while I admit that she did learn a lot and her behavior was awesome, I feel like they could do a lot better. Though the rooms are monitored by video, the owner has no idea what is going on because another girl in my little girls classroom was randomly hurt and nobody knows what happened. The parents were pulling her out anyways because they had lost their vouchers and the two teachers got yelled at for losing the child due to a stupid mistake. They also can't keep teachers, and are not good at keeping teachers in their own room. The kids get upset and act up when there are different teachers each day, and they could do a better job with that. All in all, not horrible, but if he ever has to go to daycare again I will be looking at other options.

Great daycare

I love this daycare, and so does my son. Not only do I feel very safe and secure when he is in their care because they have a keypad entry just to get in the building and every room is video monitored, but my son has learned so much and really enjoys going to school. He is only 2, and his doctors say that he is at the level of a normal 3 year old. I trully believe that it is because of what he has learned here. I visited a lot of centers while pregnant, and this one seemed to be the best. I have never regretted my decision to send him here.
