A friend of mine is giving me an old aluminum jon boat with a 6hp 2-cycle evinrude motor. I've never had a boat before, so I just went in looking for information, should I be unable to fix it myself. The staff (didn't catch a name... don't think he even introduced himself) was extremely rude, explaining that they didn't like to work on old small motors because when people find out it's $3-500 to fix, they don't even come back to pick them up. He said it takes the same effort to diagnose a newer 4-cycle motor as it does a 2-cycle, essentially telling me that he'd rather put his effort into something that they'll end up fixing (i.e. making money). While I understand and can appreciate that they don't want me to waste their time with my 2-cycle motor, there are other things I need too... but with the poor attitude shown to someone who's never been to the store before, I don't believe I'll be back. Thanks for the quick and disappointing encounter... saved me from finding that out over a longer period of time.
