Natural beauty will never go out of style! I moved from Connecticut to Texas back in the summer of 2018. My family and I left a place where we had an amazing support system but realized the greater opportunities that awaited. Moving cross country, I no longer had my reliable hairdressers to count on. I was on my own. The good thing is, I knew how to do hair. Most importantly I knew how to maintain healthy hair. Yes, there is a difference. Relocating to the DFW area opened so many doors for myself and my family. In addition to being an executive, I decided to establish my mark in the natural hair care business. Why buy products when I can make my own? What natural hair products are black-owned? What causes eczema on the scalp or alopecia? I had more questions than I could count. I thought back to my late nana and a lot of the natural remedies she used on my skin and hair growing up. I chose to educate myself further. What started out as products I made just for my little family, became more. I noticed a lot of cosmetology schools lack diversity. Natural hairstyling and hair care are not a part of the traditional curriculum. So, I advanced my knowledge by attending the Institute of Ancestral Braiding รข?? the first and only braiding school in Texas to offer natural hair care training and loc tightening certification. After receiving my natural hair certification, I gradually started building a clientele. For me, this is more than just hair products. It is a piece of mind, a reflection of my ancestors, the feeling of beauty, and a healthy way of maintaining the magnificent all-around versatility that black hair embodies. There is a growing demand in the beauty industry for natural hair care and styling. Almost ten years since I returned natural, and I love it! I hope to teach and inspire both men and women alike because when you know better, you do better. I want to make sure we all do better and once you believe in you, others will too.
