I have a direct yet nurturing style, engaging curiosity, and a deepening awareness of ones own perception of their internal and external world, and how that influences relationships with ourselves and others.I strongly believe the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for the work and processes we engage in together. By creating a safe environment to explore collaboratively, I help build a sense of confidence, honesty, and mutual trust with clients. My approach is grounded in authenticity, awareness, heart, humor and understanding, augmented by decades of training, education, and experience. As we enter into a therapeutic relationship and begin our work together, well discover, explore and engage with what emerges in the ever-dynamic moment.

Jim is a gentle, professional counselor who guided me through the roughest patch in my life and continues to be my counselor today. I too worry about “life coaches” trying to counsel people without any training. Seek a licensed therapist. Jim is one of the best. I have been to several and Jim was the only one whom I trusted.

Julian's review bears no resemblance to the Jim Goerg I know and who's been my therapist for awhile. The person I know is quite the opposite--he's friendly, sensitive, open, never arrogant, always professional. He's gone out of his way to help me at difficult times, including when I initially called.

I had an extremely unpleasant interaction with Mr. Goerge when I called to explore the possibility of seeing him for therapy. After hearing a 3-minute summary of what I was looking for, he immediately and judgmentally refused to see me, accusing me of breaking the law by being a practitioner of therapy without a license. In fact, I practice as a mindfulness-based holistic life coach (which doesn't require a license), and a bodyworker (fully licensed), but Mr. George didn't slow down enough to ascertain this information before making his dismissal. When potential clients call in, it is inherently a somewhat vulnerable act, and Jim's handling of his concerns was highly insensitive. It was also very arrogant - the most upsetting part of this interaction was that he was apparently 100% certain of his own righteousness and accuracy, completely uninterested in talking about what I actually do professionally, what the actual laws are, or even to work out our apparent disagreement. When I let him know that I have researched the laws on these subjects, and that I'm not breaking them, he raised his voice to tell me he was "Setting a Boundary!" In our conversation, he showed no concern or repentance for the way that his judgmental insensitivity and arrogance was impacting a potential client. I'd encourage vulnerable people looking for support to be cautious with Mr. Goerge. Good luck.
