I called them up and had them ...

I called them up and had them do several bids for me. The quotes were on the low end and the owner did them himself. The owner said there was no pressure to use them and I could pick and choose which jobs I wanted to use them for or not use them for. He specifically stated "if I want to use someone else for any part of the job it's ok". I decided to use them for the tile job they quoted but not for the vanity and countertop they quoted because I was able to get it cheaper elsewhere and from a company that could actually show me their products. (I repeatedly asked Idel for some samples of their cabinets but didn't get anything. It made me nervous about what I was actually going to get.) However when I called up the owner he was clearly dissatisfied with getting the tile work but not getting the vanity work and wanted to argue with me about the decision. (So much for his statement that it would be ok to use someone else if we wanted.) When I told him to stop his inquistion about the vanity work he got angry and hung up abruptly on me. What a stressful experience it was dealing with him and something not to be repeated.



I could see the owner taking the perspective of "the customer is always wrong" for all disagreements he might have. At first I doubted the negative reviews but I've now seen his attitude and behavior firsthand:

1) what he says and what he does are two different things

2) rather than accepting the point of view of a customer, the owner tends to reject it and want to argue about it; there's never any middle ground for him or compromise because he thinks that he is always right; so rather than accept the facts or compromise he chooses to run away from his issues as he did with me by hanging up on me; this would make it difficult to resolve real issues such as poor workmanship or the like; I'm not surprised that there are all these customers that can't get him to fix what's wrong with their jobs with the attitude he has.
