Provided by Superpagesmy mother has been a resident at this nursing home for a year--and i dont understand how this facility could ever get 5 star --they are short staffed and the staff they do have is too busy talking and going on breaks to bother with the residents--they claim to change the residents every 2 hours--your lucky if they change them every 6 hours--as for the meals--they never have enough help or take enough time to actually feed a resident--so in many cases they just dont eat--and if you have a concern the nursing director smiles and listens and does nothing about anything--im so glad my mom is no longer a resident there--i would never recommend this facility to anyone....

My mother recently had a fall and went to the hospital where we found that she had multiple health problems that needed to be treated. After a few days in the hospital we decided to send my mother to Elmhurst Extended Care Center. I can say, while my mother stayed at this nursing home, I could sleep soundly without having to worry about what kind of care she was receiving. The nurses were very knowledgeable and helped quickly cure my mother of her ailments. Therapy was 6 days a week and twice a day which helped my mother get back to her prior level of function much faster than we expected! I was always kept in the loop of how they were taking care of her and how she progressed almost daily. Everyone was very nice and I definitely could feel the family atmosphere. There were no disgusting odors and the facility was very clean. I have nothing bad to say about Elmhurst Extended Care Center and highly recommend it to anyone that needs their services.

Our mother was transferred to Elmhurst Extended Care from Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. She was walking, feeding herself and free of any infections or bed sores. After 17 days in the facility, she was left with a high blood sugar count of 300+ for a week, acquired two infections, bedsores, and a fever before being transferred back to the hospital for recovery. She was walking going in and stretcher going out. The temperature in her four person room as in excess of 90 degrees for long periods, the food diet was the same every day with questionable quality. Her physical therapy consisted of being placed in a wheelchair and left with several other residents in an open bay area near the front door. The hospital put her in quarantine when she returned and she has never recovered from the infections. Her bedsores took a week to treat.
