In 2010, my newly adopted 2 1/2 year old feline had a couple of obvious health ailments, perhaps from being a stray or runaway. His condition was first assessed by a close-to-home (Pittsburgh) animal hospital vet whose initial hands-on treatment was a series of vaccines! He already had an obviously compromised immune system and I found this initial step unacceptable. So, based on a colleague's recommendation I took him to Chippewa/Ellwood Animal Hospitals. Their experience, thoroughness, and care for this individual animal was obvious. All of his health conditions were recognized up front, and his treatments have greatly improved his condition, including treatments to balance him energetically. I definitely trust my feline's health to Dr. Cynthia Maro and the hospital's staff.

I had my dog in for what they call a first holistic appointment with Dr. Maro a few weeks ago. My yellow lab has had problems with allergies all her life; always itching & red/irritated skin. Dr. Maro did a thorough work-up on her (1hr appointment); made several recommendations; had a technician present & explain an estimate of costs/treatment plan to me. I had several questions that Connie(vet tech) was able to answer, and for the first time in 5 years, my dog is starting to look much better. I've been very happy with the services & follow-ups received, and have found the work done at Ellwood Animal Hosp to be extremely comprehensive & thorough. I would highly recommend to pet owners who want top-of-the-line services, especially for cases (like mine) where strictly conventional therapies at other vets have not been successful.

The receptionist scheduled my sick pet right away. They were friendly and informative. I was very impressed with the physical facility (didn't look or smell like a vets office). I expected to have blood tests for my pet and they performed them as I waited, so my pet could receive the treatment. While I waited, I watched a slide show about charity events the clinic sponsors for shelters and school children. They appear to do lots of good work in the community. The other pet owners in the waiting room couldn't say enough good things about the care their pets received at the practice. Some of them had driven from over an hour away to come there. The vets are caring and take time to explain what's wrong and how to treat. I felt like I was part of the decision process and was given estimates before treatment was performed. I expected a higher bill, so was pleasantly surprised when I received my estimate. Everyone was very kind to me and my dog, who has recovered from his infection.

My dog had something wrong with her neck seemingly out of nowhere. I called my regular vet which was 45 mins away...and they would not take a 'walk in' as the Dr. was just leaving. (it was only 4:30 PM) That didn't sit too well with me...so I knew there was a vet in town here so we went there. I had no appointment and had never been there before. The girl at the counter took my information and then told me to have a seat and somebody would be with me as soon as they could. She was very polite. I waited maybe 5 mins before we were talking to the Vet. Once they figured out what the problem was, I was giving 4 or 5 options and I was not forced to do anything I didn't want to and when I asked how much certain things were, they told me. They let me sit and think about what i wanted to do at no hurry. And that was something that I liked. I don't know what happened with the person who wrote the other review...but I love this vet and will go to this one until I move too far away. :)
