Maplewood Care Center

This is terrible place for family; let alone guests' ! It smells like urine; the people are depressed; I see the Nurses yelling at the Patients telling them to "shut up". Medication is ALWAYS late. People are wandering outside smoking unattended; please people- do your research first. This place is JUST AWFUL !! They only see state $$ and do not care about the residents. Shameful. I have to rate a number; I wish I could use negatives.

I have to say this and I am sorry, but this facility is NOT someplace I would recommend to aynone! My mother was stuck here for 12 years due to the fact that it was close proximity to her medical executor. (power of attorney). I visited her 4 times a year, and was always apprehensive upon arrival to see her. The facility was extremly outdated, understaffed and smelled terrible! My mother was extremley neglected, I have photos of her tongue and toenails, that showed she was not taken very good care of. She died in August of 2011, She had alzheimers (dementia) I cared for her myself for a couple of years until it was becoming a risk to her. After putting her in the home, she was "tackled" by an orderly who thought she was "escaping:" and in the process her hip was broken, and during rehab for the 1st broken hip, she slipped in the hall and broke the other hip. From then on she was put in a wheel chair all day. Does this sound like a place that is carefully tending to their patients??

visit to mom

i noticed a lot of things when i used to visit my mom. she had heart trouble. the staff there is remarkable.she always said she felt comfortable being there. and it was important to me that when i left her she was content. they let us fix up her room and bring some of her favorite things to make her feel like it was her home.i'm not sorry i chose it .
