I brought my five and two year old daughters both to Kids First for their first dental appointments. Although my overall experience was not positive I must admit that their office staff was phenomenal, they are very good with kids and I can't have nicer words for their receptionist.My husband and I do not have dental insurance for the kids and my experience started with them explaining to me the pricing and what would be involved in each of the girls' visits. I requested that x-rays not be done on my two year old and I was told that it wasn't up to me, but it was up to the Dr. In my opinion at two years old this showed a complete lack of respect for a parent's wishes, I in turn would not let the Dr see my two year old and have taken her elsewhere.After my five year old was seen she had an extreme number of cavities all of which would need to be treated. I felt a little steam rolled by first the number and second how my questions were answered by Dr Carsten. One of my specific concerns related to laughing gas especially used on my kids and basically I was told I was wrong and there was no other option in his office. I left without really knowing what to ask and feeling completely overwhelmed.The office was chaotically busy which is great for business but there really isn't a good place to discuss cost and issues in a non-public, need to shift every few seconds to get out of someones way place. Finally, the office quoted me a price for the first two teeth which was astronomical and unreasonable especially now having had her seen and treated by another dentist.It seems as though this dentist is fabulous as long as you are a family with insurance and no issues, otherwise I would look elsewhere.
