Dr. Alam is an optometrist that grew up in Chicago, IL. She completed her undergraduate studies with Honors in Biological Sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her Doctor of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry with a Clinical Excellence Award. She gained training in specialty contact lens fits and anterior segment disease at Chicago Cornea Consultants. Along with her pediatrics and low vision training at the Illinois Eye Institute she worked with Chicago Public Schools to provide comprehensive eye exams to students of all ages. She has completed extensive training in ocular disease and advance care at the Jesse Brown VA and University of Chicago medical center. Through her previous externships and her extensive work in medical optometry she has gained excellent experience in managing patients with glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and red eye management. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, Illinois Optometric Association, and American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Alam has a strong passion for helping others and likes to provide care to patients of all ages. During her free time, Dr. Alam enjoys many activities, such as hiking, reading, tennis, and spending time with her family.
