Advanced Foot Care is NOT BBB Accredited.
I know why.

http://www.bbb.org/elpaso/business-reviews/podiatrists/advanced-foot-care-in-el-paso-tx-95060181

I went there in April 2014 to check my feet for bunions, the waiting time was too long about 3 hours, and the service was next to awful. I was looking for a doctor to operate both feet at the same time using endoscopy method; is when they make small incisions and the recovering time is very short, but the Doctor Gabriel Lazar DPM/073169 didn't know about this procedure. I guess this doctor needs to keep studying and update his old procedures. I will definitely look for another doctor.

But the Really Bad part is the lady called Cristina M.
Before we schedule the visit I call the receptionist and give them my insurance Blue Cross Blue Shield information, and the lady "supposedly" check the insurance and that I only need to pay the co-pay $20 and the insurance will take care of the rest.
Then I when to the appointment and first they took the X-ray then I found that the doctor lack of knowledge issue explained before.

So I decided NOT to go with this old procedure. But NOW I received a FULL $ 303.00 invoice for their useless activities, so I called Cristina M and complain about the full invoice, and the only thing she mentioned is that they don't really call and ask the insurance really coverage, and what they only do is a "courtesy call" to verify if the insurance and name exists.
(Courtesy call?) That's what we pay for; this lady Cristina M was too un-professional.

So I called the Insurance and they mentioned that pre-operational bunions work is NOT covered and is only limited to the actual operation procedure, but on my opinion this question should be asked by Cristina M before I when to the appointment then I can decide if take or cancel the appointment. Plus if I know this doctor has really OLD procedures I should NEVER call them at the beginning.

I called and asked to see if they could help me with some orthotic insoles for my under pronation, and I was told yes that it would be no problem. When I showed up for my appointment the first thing I noticed was that the lady at the front desk was not rude but unfriendly. Well after answering the usual questionnaire, taking my vitals, X-rays and asking me questions about my medical history (which I have no idea why I need all this for pronation) and an hour and a half later I got to see the doctor. The exam was a full 30 seconds and then I was told that they would call me for another appointment which they never did. What a waste of time they should have just told me not to come in.

It's the best medical decision...

It's the best medical decision I've made. After years of working out I began to get pain on my feet. Traveling the streets of Lee Trevino I saw the sign for Advanced Foot Care and decided to stop by for an appointment. To my suprise I was able to be seen the same day. The receptionist was friendly and very helpful, she took my information as well as verified my insurance benefits. Within 10 mins I was taken to the back by the medical assistant and asked information as to why I was there. Xrays were taken before I see the doctor and was told this will help the physician better understand my problem, which only makes sense. Dr. Lazar walked into the room and introduced himself before going over my problem. Dr Lazar explained my problem was a painful bunion and the best treatment was surgery. Dr Lazar went over the procedure and told me that I would a recovery time of 4 to 6 weeks. I called a few weeks later to schedule my surgery and was scheduled within two weeks. Surgery went well and Dr Lazar called me that night to see how I was doing. Wow you don't hear of that in this times of day. My job is a sit down job and I was able to return back to work within a week. I had no pain because Dr Lazar and staff advised me to follow the post operative instructions to avoid pain or discomfort, let me just tell everyone it worked for me and I know everyone is different. Now I am completely healed and have no more pain, Thanks to Dr. Lazar and his staff for all your help. I recommend this office to anyone who is suffering for any foot discomforts and you won't be disappointed. Friendly, efficient, and caring is what this office is all about.

I took my child to see Dr. Lazar

My son has had a painful heel for several months now and his pediatrician hasn't been able to do anything for him. I finally decided to see Dr. Lazar and he was able to treat my sons painful foot. My son has been unable to participate in sports without having pain but now he is pain free and playing sports thanks to Drl.Lazar. There staff was very efficiante and friendly. I was able to get a same day appointment and there was no long wait. Most of all Dr.Lazar and his staff made us feel comfortable and important.

My painful ingrown toenail

I have had a severe ingrown for two weeks now and of course I have been performing my own bathroom surgery. That is definately something I don't recommend because I only made it worse. I had no idea who to get treatment from so I looked in the yellow pages and found Dr. Lazar he had a friendly face and I decided to give his office a try. Need less to say it was the best decision I made. My office visit was great. There office staff is very nice and efficient. This has to be the quikest appointment I have ever been to. It's not like other doctors where you spend all day there and it seems like they have forgot about you. Dr. Lazar was very attentive, explained my problem and the surgical procedure, attended me quikly and most of all solved my problem. I will fedinately recommend him as a physician and surgeon not only was he great but also his staff is awesome.

My first visit was great

I have had severe heel pain for 3 months now and have seen other foot doctors that haven't been able to help me with my foot pain. I had pretty much given up and thought that I was going to have to live with this pain each day. I was telling my coworker about my problem and she told me about Dr. Gabriel Lazar. She stated that she had the same problem and she went to see him and that he helped her get rid of her heel pain. She stated he was a very professional doctor, they have a great staff, and that she is in no more pain now. I decided to try out Dr. Lazar's office myself and was so happy that I did. My office visit was great. There office is very unique because there wait time is very minimal, they are effecient, and there staff is very nice. Dr. Lazar is a great physician I'd have to say. He is very knowledgable and informative. He helped me understand my foot problem and ultimately is giving me the treatment i need to be pain free. I have completed two visits already and have improved significantly. I definately will recommend him to all my family and friends.

I have taken my children to Dr...

I have taken my children to Dr. Lazar a couple of times for ingrown toenails. While he does do well performing the procedure, most of his office staff is very impersonal, esspecially the Dr. The last time I was there, they lost my driver's license behind one of their counters. They were not even going to look for it that day. They just told me they would try to have it for me on the next appointment. They did not seem the least bit concerned that they had lost it. When I protested and said I needed my license since it is against the law to drive without one, and it is my identification, they decided to try and get it. After I waited over 30 minutes, Dr. Lazar called me to the counter to inform me that they could not retrieve it. He was so rude and impersonal, and when I ask him if he was going to pay for me to get another license, he had a very snide comment. I told him that instead, to cancel my next appointment and I would find another Dr. I understand that things like that happened, but I feel that the treatment I recieved was unfriendly and uncaring.I will never go back to Dr. Lazar.

I DO REMEMBER THIS PATIENT AND THIS INCIDENT. FIRST OF ALL THE REAL REASON THIS PATIENT IS UPSET IS THAT WE WERE UNABLE TO SEE HER THAT DAY BECAUSE SHE HAS A GOVERNMENT INSURANCE PROGRAM (MEDICAID) WHICH REQUIRES THAT SHE HAVE A REFERRAL FROM HER PRIMARY DOCTOR. SHE DID NOT HAVE THAT REFERRAL THAT DAY. AS SHE STATES IN HER STATEMENT WE TOLD HER SHE COULD GET THAT REFERRAL AND COME BACK IN THE AFTERNOON WE WOULD SEE HER SON. SHE DID NOT WAIT HALF AND HOUR. SECONDLY, WE DID LOSE HER LICENSE BUT IT WAS A FREAK ACCIDENT, THE LICENSE FELL RIGHT THROUGH A SMALL GAP BETWEEN THE CABINETS. ITS NEVER HAPENED BEFORE IN SIX YEARS OF BEING IN THAT OFFICE. I PERSONALLY, WHILE SHE WATCHED, GOT A HAMMER AND BROKE THE BOTTOM PORTION OF THE CABINET BUT THE CARD WAS NOT VISIBLE. i TOLD HER I WOULD HAVE TO CALL A CABINET MAKER TO TAKE THE CARD OUT, I ALSO OFFERED TO PAY HER TO GET A NEW LICENSE IF SHE WOULD LIKE. IF ANYBODY IS INTRESTED I NEVER REPAIRED THAT CABINET AND YOUR WELCOME TO SEE IT. FINALLY AS THE THE PATIENT STATED SHE HAD BEEN TO MY OFFICE BEFORE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, IF MY OFFICE WAS THAT BAD SHE WOULD HAVE GONE SOMEWHERE ELSE. SHE HAS ALWAYS HAD THE SAME MEDICAID PROGRAM AND SHE KNOWS THE RULES.

Disappointed

My son needed his service and I do give them credit for scheduling him in that week. Understandable, the wait was pretty long. We probably waited about 4 1/2 hours. I figured he must be a really good doctor thats why people don't mind waiting. Finally, we were taken into one of the rooms. First thing, we read was a frame on the wall is a frame( don't recall the actual wording, but something like we will not shake patients hands for it will take a lot of time) Trying to justify it, o.k. I guess, he has to many people that he doesnt have time to waste. Then finally the Dr. Lazaro walks in in a hurry quickly asks what seems to be the problem, my sons needs to have a minor surgery and asks me to step out for a bit. Doesn't really talk to me or my son. Performs the surgery and leaves. The assistant very nice and helpful. But as for the doctor I felt he wasn't very thorough nor compassionate. Felt like he was going to just say Next!.... Then the billing clerk wasn't very friendly either. She didn't even smile. Just told me how much it was and when the next appointment would be. This whole experience felt unwelcomed and very impersonal. Experience could have been better.

A couple of things. The plaque on the wall states " in order to prevent infections Doctor Lazar will not shake your hand." Which in todays world is something you as a patient or family would probably appreciate. Secondly, In 16 years of being in practice I can guarantee that not one patient has ever waited in my office 4 1/2 hours. We just arent that kind of practice. I dont have emergencies where I have to leave the office while patients are still in the waiting room. We pride ourselves in being an efficient, friendly well staffed or overstaffed office because I do not believe that you as a patient should wait more than 25 minutes in my waiting room. As far as the patient contact, i will go in, diagnose the problem and tell you what needs to be done and how we are going to do it. You then decide whether you agree with what needs to be done and you decide whether you want the procedure done that day or at a later time. If you decide to have the procedure done that day my assistant will once again go over the procedure and ask if you have any questions for me. If you dont then you have to sign a legal consent form allowing me to perform the procedure. once i perform the procedure I go back to the room once your post op instructions have been given to you and ask if you have any questions. We also will always tell you what you would have to pay and confirm that this procedure is covered by your insurance so that there aren't any questons as to coverage. This patient doesnt know my name calls me Dr. Lazaro when its Dr. Lazar, does not know what my plaque on the wall states but makes a defaming comment about it and blatantly exagerates a wait time that I would find repulsive. If you look in my yellow page ad I even state there that you will probably be seen within 25 minutes. Im not, after being in practice 16, years make a statement that I cant backup. Im sorry that the patient felt that we werent compassionate or caring because we are. Especially when ther is a minor invloved and their is some concern as to how their child will be taken care of, I will tell a parent I guarantee that their child will have a smile on their face when you come back after the procedure. I would not make that comment unless I knew I could.
