I have had several exams at this facility. (x-ray, ultrasound, MRI)

Everyone was helpful, knowledgeable and supportive to needs being that I was truly not feeling well and having medical issues.

I read a past review that referenced an IV needled left in during an MRI exam. As an x-ray tech myself, this is required for an MRI exam that includes contrast. This is protocol being that the MRI machine is a powerful magnet and moving a patient to inject would require resetting the machine and quite frankly RESTARTING THE ENTIRE EXAM. I hope this is helpful to future patients who decide to use this facility. I will come back and hope other will too.

They were able to do my lower lumbar and spine MRI within 2 hours. They were very professional and quick. Would have had to wait 5 days to get it done at my usual MRI place. Will be returning to this place when I need something again. Had a great tech and desk gals were friendly and helpful.

Star MRI had been highly recom...

Star MRI had been highly recommended to me by my doctor, so I made an appointment there, despite the fact that there are quite a few MRI locations more convenient to me.

When I checked in at the desk at Star MRI, I was asked for my driver's license and insurance card. I was given a clipboard with forms to fill out. I sat down in the waiting room to fill them out, which took me a little time. During this time, several other patients stopped at the desk. When I took my forms back, there was no one attending the desk at that moment, but there were my license and insurance card sitting unattended on the counter (the same counter used to lean on, set purses on, etc. by the public). This was very irreponsible handling on the part of the staff.

The woman who performed the MRI was pleasant, however, she inserted the needle into my arm (for the contrast) at the beginning of the procedure, when it wouldn't be needed for 45 minutes. I had an MRI last year at a place on CedarCrest just north of I-78 and they did not place the needle into my arm until 45 minutes after the start of the MRI. I am a little phobic about needles, so I appreciated this. Why have a needle in your arm unnecessarily for 45 minutes? I think it is much more customer oriented to wait and insert it when needed rather than ahead of time.

Since I had driven a distance to get to Star MRI, I was hoping to leave with a CD of my scan. I was told that the radiologist uses the room where the computer is which could make me a copy. Fortunately, he had stepped out for lunch, and I was able to leave with a CD. If he had not been out to lunch, I would have had to leave without the CD and would have had to drive back to Easton from Allentown (since they wouldn't be able to mail it).

My final problem with Star MRI was that they spelled my name wrong. I noticed this on the CD which they gave me. I was told that it was too late to change it -- that it was already in the system with the wrong spelling. I was also told by them that this was my fault, as I hadn't noticed my name was misspelled on the printed form they showed me at the front desk when I check in. When you arrive for a medical test, you may be nervous and distracted. Surely it is the job of the desk staff to check for spelling accuracy -- they have my driver's license and insurance card right there to consult. (Fortunately, no one stole them during the time they were unattended on the counter!) The misspelling made it difficult for my doctor's office to find the results in their own system.

I would not go back to Star MRI. The needs of the patient are not considered ahead of the needs of the desk staff, the testing personnel, and the radiologist.
