Founded in 1895, East Hartford Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that provides 24-hour service and protection to the community and its residents. It is one of the largest police departments in Connecticut. The department is divided into an office of the chief of police and three bureaus that include criminal investigations, management services and operations. East Hartford Police Department also utilizes several special units, including accident reconstruction, K-9 canine, marine and bicycle patrol teams. In addition, the department has a membership in the regional efforts of Hartford s police bomb squad and capitol region dive, regional incident dispatch, and urban search and rescue teams.
