Founded in 1973 by Gloria Hamilton, Dane Decor began offering fine Scandanavian furniture out of its original home in Downingtown, PA. The philosophy was simple: high quality, durable furniture at affordable prices. It's that mindset that helped Dane Decor become an established and reputable dealer of Scandanavian furniture in the Philadelphia area. Now, nearly 40 years later, Dane Decor is one of the few remaining Dealers of contemporary Scandanavian furniture on the East Coast. From glass and steel Italian dining tables to slate occasional tables from South africa to German designed sofas and sectionals, Dane Decor searched the world for the latest designs and styles. Dane Decor continues to change by bringing in new, lower priced items and keeping our favorites like Ekornes, BDI, and Skovby. Our delivered piece of furniture (a sideboard) was much darker than the piece we ordered from the showroom floor. Dane Décor offered to exchange our piece for the one on the floor. We agreed, but were stuck with an additional $100 delivery fee. Keep in mind we had already paid $2019. The manager would not budge on the charge. Over the years we have spent thousands and thousands and thousands in this store. They got our $100, but lost a good customer.

Let the buyer beware!

Although this is a family owned company, they are not interested in pleasing the customer. My family had a business where we did everything to please our customers, even if it meant taking a loss. It was very important to us that the customer be happy. It's the best form of advertising. We recently purchased a very pricey kitchen table because we liked the modern look. They had it in stock, so we took it home that day. When we got it home, it looked almost black in stead of dark brown. It was too dark for our kitchen. I called the next business day to see about returning it and spoke with the owner. He informed me that we could return it but there would be a 25% restocking fee and the remainder of the cost would be in store credit! That would mean $500 restocking fee! Needless to day I was sick about it. I had asked him about three times if he would lower the fee but he said no and that it used to be 50%. He said that their return policy was printed on the back of the invoice. Our sales person never informed us of this policy nor did he offer info that the table also came in other finishes. I told the owner that this ordeal would mean that I would not purchase from them again and his reply was that he understood.

Rather than live with an expensive table that I or other family members didn't like, we cut our losses and ordered the table in a lighter color (light cherry), actual table unseen. This table will take six months because they wait till they get a large order that will come from Italy. Now, they are getting use our money. I certainly didn't want sore credit there. I will never buy there again. You learn from your experiences.
