MY PARENTS TOOK ME TO GREEN TOP WHEN THEY FIRST OPENED, TRUCKERS, COAL MINERS SUDDENLY FLOCKED THERE DUE TO MR LEO'S SPECIAL SAUCE AND MOIST, TENDER BBQ. WITHOUT A DOUBT,GREEN TOP IS WORTH THE DRIVE FROM BIRMINGHAM AND SURROUNDING AREAS. GREEN TOP HAS WON BEST BBQ MANY TIMES, I WOULD RATE GREEN TOP IN TOP FIVE BBQ PLACES IN STATE OF ALABAMA. MRS SUZY, MR LEO, PRESTON ALL THE FOUNDING FAMILY STILL OWN AND OPERATE THE BUSINESS. BE SURE AND ASK FOR LISA OR GINA, THEY ARE SUPERB WAITRESSES, GET YOU A INSIDE SLICE JUMBO BBQ, BIG BAG GOLDEN FLAKE THIN N CRISY USE CRYSTAL HOT SAUCE, GET SIDE SAUCE MIX IN LIL BIT CRYSTAL DIP YOUR CHIPS, ORDER TWO, CAUSE YOU WILL WANT ONE FOR LATER, THE BEER IS 28 DEGREES COLD, COKES ETC, CLEAN, FRIENDLY, HOME TOWN ATMOSPHERE THEY TREAT YALL LIKE FAMILY. The BBQ is really good!! The fries are awful. They are greasy, and soggy. The prices are getting outrageous!! I use to go at least 2 to 3 times a week, but now I may go twice a year. The parking lot use to be full of cars at lunch, and dinner. Today is labor day, and there was hardly anybody there. Also every time I get a to go order they get it wrong. Every single time!!!

This is by far the greasiest, nastiest barbecue I have ever put into my mouth. I do not see how this place has remained in business this long. The service was terrible and the food tasted like a dirty mop with bbq sauce on it. I had diarreah for three days after eating there. We saw roaches and rat droppings and had dirty silverware. A word to the wise avoid it by all means.
