Provided by YP.comOn December 27,2009 our group holiday dinning experience was poor from a waiter
named Shannon at table # 27. I can get a rude, grumpy waiter any place for less
money. We never received a wine/beer/beverage list, tea was served with no spoon
and no saucer for the tea cup? I feel it is very over rated and over priced for the low
quality you receive.
The coat check was also poor, they hang multiple coats on a hanger? The best
service received was from the Valet drivers.

Provided by SuperpagesBill T Horrible experience! Had dinner at Mario's and part of the deal was to include shuttle service to Joe Louis Arena for Andrea Bocelli concert. The concert started at 7:30 and the shuttle arrived at the arena at 8:10. My party of 6 missed 40 minutes of a concert that cost $300.00 each. The owner was extremely rude and condescending when we spoke to him about our discontent.

Provided by SuperpagesThink Godfather. Mario's is situated in an awkward area in Detroit, however, it remains a gem. My family really enjoys it, however, I'm not a huge Italian cuisine connoisseur. I enjoy most of their vegetarian dishes, and their minestrone soup is one of my favorites. The waitstaff at Mario's provides attention unlike most venues--patrons are catered to with class. The decor inside the restaurant is quite old-school, but not quite bordering tacky. I definitely recommend Mario's to anyone who seeks good Italian food in a classier environment.

Provided by SuperpagesLove the old school atmosphere. Shannon is the best...very attentive and engaging. It's true that you should be prepared to have your entree to go as the amount of food is vast. Drinks are okay...depends on who makes them. Shrimp scampi, beef dishes, all delicious. And the salad...wonderful if mixed by Shannon. Other wait staff may go too heavy on the dressing.

Provided by Superpages****4 stars**** Amazing fine dining service and delicious old school Italian food! What a wonderful place to go and indulge in old school Italian cooking. It was so nice to be so waited on and have a 5 course meal. What a lovely and enjoyable experience. Mario's is a perfect place to celebrate something or to take out of towner's too. Hope to go back sooner rather than later.

Provided by SuperpagesWe - the family - had a great dinner at Mario's. Love the salad, soup and old-world service. Everyone's entree was really good - lamb chops, lasagna and chicken. There is nothing like an old-fashioned, old-world Italian restaurant.

Provided by YP.comIn reading the previous reviews I was very surprised. My husband and i had a wonderful time - the food was great. I had Chicken parmesian and my husband had a filet. He said it was in the top 10 best steaks he had ever eaten. I know the restaurant has been here for years and probably could use a bit if sprucing up. Our waiter was cordial and discreet but brought us everything we needed. It wasn't a busy night. We'll definately go back!

Provided by YP.comI do understand the vintage feel. However, an extreme makeover is necessary.

Provided by YP.comGo back to the Rat Pack days of Detroit. Sit and eat in the same atmosphere as many famous people. You never know who you will see there. The food is never ending - antipasto, salad, soup, pasta are served even before you order.Everything is great, especially the large cut filet.

Provided by YP.comOld school Italian restaurant. Servings are generous & food is good, but the good ends there. They did a bait & switch on a play package they advertised, service was incredibly slow & they showed little remorse for making us, as well as many others, late for the show. They offer to hold your leftovers while you're at the show...our waitress shoved our food in a mini fridge w/ 40 othe rleftover meals...and made no note or indication that it was ours. We asked her how we'd know which was ours, and she very rudely replied, "what, you want me to put a star on it or something?" When we returned after the show, the food was sitting out on a bar table, had clearly been there for awhile, and was opened.
Would not return, would not recommend.
