Written by Stephanie Madison of Art Detroit If you've lived in the Metro Detroit area in the last 5 years, chances are you've seen some of the work of Chris Ahern Photography at some point in that time. With nearly 25,000 followers over social media, over 100 positive reviews, multiple galleries, awards and publications, Chris's eye, creative talent and hard work have been seen far and wide, working with the national broadcasts at FOX Sports and CBS Sports (2016-present), Motown Countdown (2016-present), Movement Festival Afterparties, Spirit Airlines ALPA, The APSE Foundation, National Anthem Singer Angela Davis, IBEW Local 58, The Brett Johnson Collection and many more. Starting his business off of his self taught passion a half-decade ago, Chris went from making a Facebook page and winning online photography contests to eventually being seen at art shows and fairs at venues like The Eastern Market, The Rustbelt, Cranbrook Science Museum, Urbanrest Brewing, Catfe Lounge, Ferndale City Council and a variety of other hot spots in the area. In Late 2015, he was offered his own rotating gallery space at the House Music venue MIX Bricktown (641 Beaubien Street) to display and sell 20-35 of his visual masterpieces that capture the beauty of Detroit architecture and landscapes. His gallery has been voted the top 5 galleries of Metro Detroit for two years in WDIV's "Vote 4 The Best" contest. Chris has also received awards for his work by Madison Heights City Council, Canvas Pontiac (Judged by a panel from the Detroit Institute of Arts), Photographers Forum (An internationally published coffee table book), and has been the Featured Artist in multiple fashion shows in which fashion designers based the wardrobe of over models around the artwork of Chris Ahern Photography as they walked down the runway with his canvases. Beginning in 2018, Chris Ahern Photography's gallery creation services expanded to private businesses interested in commissioning stock and custom orders for office spaces, as seen now throughout the International Bancard building in near Campus Martius in Detroit among others. Chris's skilled professional photography doesn't just end with bringing stunning landscapes and architecture to life. As one of the area's most talented and multifaceted photographers, Chris has now shot hundreds of events, weddings, engagements, portraits, promo shoots, music performances, model shoots, pets, real estate and more. In 2019, In addition to the work found at MIX Bricktown, Chris Ahern Photography gallery work can be found on display and sale at The Social Club (16000 W. 9 Mile Rd, Southfield, MI), Curl Up & Dye Saloon (2059 N Monroe St, Monroe, MI), Schramm's Mead in March (327 W. 9 Mile Road Ferndale, MI), Level One Bank Gallery this Fall (22635 Woodward Ave, Ferndale, MI), Lockerroom Lounge (18290 Livernois Ave, Detroit, MI) and other locations coming soon. Other than photography and music, Chris is also working on a Kickstarter to fund a community art space called The Stratford in Ferndale. "One of the biggest struggles for me getting started and also from artists in almost every genre of art is they don't have a space to work in. This is going to be the answer to that." Along with having a rentable photography studio, The Stratford will also hold potential to be a multifaceted event space, an art gallery and a band hotel in which bands can practice and perform.
