Opened in 1964, Terrace Elementary School enrolls more than 230 students in kindergarten through grade five. The school fosters the academic, creative, ethical and physical development of children. Its academic curriculum includes English, science, music, art, physical education, reading, writing, social studies and math. Terrace Elementary School encourages students to participate in extracurricular activities, including music and art clubs, and science fairs. It governs a parent-teacher council that conducts several fundraising activities and special programs. The school operates a book club for students in grades one through five. Its staff includes psychologists, guidance counselors, nurses, social workers and speech and language therapists. Located in Des Plaines, Ill., Terrace Elementary School is a part of Community Consolidated School District 62. The district governs various elementary and middle schools and has more than 4,500 students.
