I got my first tattoo ever at Skin Kitchen thirteen years ago. I now have over 100 hours of work and I have never gone anywhere else. 99% of my work has been done by Jack, but over the years I've come to know all of the artists there very well.



People consistently stop me to ask where I got my work done. On multiple occasions people have told me how they hate tattoos and think they're trashy or unprofessional, but the work I have is extremely impressive and they "never see tattoos like this"!



If you're looking to get work done, I absolutely recommend without any hesitation. Whether it's a highly detailed piece with intricate line work, old school traditional work, portraits, flash, etc., etc., they have you covered - they even have great piercers on staff.



*PLEASE* look at any artist's portfolio before getting tattooed anywhere. You should be able to see many pictures of their work, as opposed to just a few, so that you can see that they are consistently turning out great tattoos. Additionally, *please* remember that you will have this for the rest of your life! Spend the money to get it done right the first time! There's nothing wrong with always looking for a deal, but getting tattooed is not one of the situations in which to do that. You don't want to be the person that is always laughed at while people point to your train wreck of a cheap tattoo. You also don't want to wind up on a website like Ugliest Tattoos.



Now head into Skin Kitchen and setup and appointment! Amazing artists and piercers in a very large and very clean shop. You absolutely cannot go wrong.

I have going to the skin kitchen for over ten years! Not only do they have great and talented tattoo artist but they also have a great friendly staff as well to help you with setting up your tattoo appointments!! I recommend skin kitchen 100 percent so go and check their shop out, I promise you won't be disappointed!!!

I have been to MANY tattoo shops (as I have traveled the country for work). Skin Kitchen is, hands down, the best shop that I've had the pleasure of stepping into. First and foremost, the artists are incredible! The studio is super clean and private. I have found a shop that I am proud to call my "home" shop. Who'd have ever thought Des Moines had such talent?! No more trying out new shops and artists! Jack is my guy!

Best shop in the world!!! Jack and Michelle are great! True artists! They are always so friendly and helpful. I always walk out with my expectations exceeded! Everyone is always so friendly. The moment you walk in, you know that you are in good hands. Thanks you to everyone there!!!! I would rate this shop above 5 stars if I could! Don't go anywhere else, or it's your mistake!

I got my first tattoo at this place and it was a great experience. I got it down my ribs and Matt did it he did a great job and was very nice through out the whole thing. I will recommend all my friends to Matt and this shop. If I get more tattoos I will have Matt do them he is great!!

I went to skin kitchen today and got a tattoo done. It was my 3rd.Jonny was very professional, efficient and thorough. He wasn't done till I was satisfied. My appointment had been booked for 3 hours and we ran out of time. He graciously asked me to come back later and finished my tattoo at no additional charge. It's a comfortable environment with a very experienced artist. I would recommend Jonny at Skin Kitchen to anyone!
