I was referred from my school to get my physical for nursing. I also asked to get a varicella titer and my TB skin test... I was quoted $35 for my physical...When I left the first day, they only charged me $35 for my physical. A week later, they called and left a message and told me they forgot to charge me for the rest and it was only going to be $30 extra and said if I wanted to pay by phone or send a check.. I called back and told them to mail me an invoice of what I got done and the cost.. When I got the bill, it was $248.... I called and asked about the price and they said the varicella virus shot was $175, venipuncture $18, CBC $34... The CBC which I never asked for and it wasn't in my form that I DID NOT need(this is the form from school that they needed to fill out for me) but they ordered it for some reason. I was charged $175 for the varicella shot which I DID NOT get. I was only suppose to be charged the titer which was $50. My teacher had called and she said they quoted the the same ($50) for the varicella titer.. I went up to the place and showed my paper work and their paperwork from when I checked out to what I had the appointment for. The receptionist understood and before I said anything she even said the titer was $50. It took them 30 min to find my paperwork because they misplaced it somewhere. And this was her exact words " so basically we screwed your paperwork up" ... They asked to keep my documents and give me a call back, but I told them to make copies and give me my original.. So I'm waiting for a phone call, 3 weeks go by and I didn't hear from them, I receive another bill stating the same cost and nothing has changed. So I called them again and they told me to discard the bill and they were trying to figure it out for me.. New Years come along, another bill comes and it's the same. So I called again and they said the lady that handles the billing won't be there til Monday ..I don't receive a phone call, so I called them the next day. I believe I talked to the manager and she was very rude. They put me on hold several times and finally they told me that the titer is now $175 and not what I was quoted which was $50. I don't know if they were trying to cover their mistakes but I was not going to just let that go like that and pay for something I did NOT receive. So we go back and forth about it and all I hear is stuttering and things that do not make sense. If you work in a healthcare or run a professional business, the residents/patients should be treated with respect even if there has been a little mix up like this. The lady who I was talking to said that they were going to reduce it to $75 instead of $175 because of their mistake, but I was still not happy because it wasn't what I was quoted. They said they were doing it to help me out? Really?! Helping me out by charging me extra for something I didn't get and then switching up the price because they messed up??!! That's BS... I'm a soon to be RN and once I get into the healthfield , I sure as hell will not work for a place like this. They call this healthcare? More like cheatcare... So anyways, I called them back after I calmed down and ask the manager to set an appointment so I can speak to someone worth talking to that is above her authority. Someone that is PROFESSIONAL and knows what they are doing. Well she kept saying she works from home and doesn't come in often and is going on vacation. So I asked for her number. She wouldn't give it to me or set an appointment And told me to email the documents and she will contact me. I said that my documents should be in file and I shouldn't have to email anything. From what I have experience, these people have no idea what they are doing. Word of advice- NEVER GO TO CAROLINA INTERNAL MEDICINE ON HWY 16. They are very unorganized, unsanitary, and unprofessional.
