nightmare

I've lived at this dump for two years, because they left me alone and didn't hassle me. Now I've begun to experience what "One Dartmouth Place" has to truly offer.

First, they passed out fliers saying they were going to tow all the cars that didn't fit the bill specified in the lease, then towed a bunch of cars, pissing everyone off. (mine not included) Then I found cockroaches in my apartment, started asking around, and everybody's got cockroaches in their apartments .Next, I decided to leave town for a couple days, forgot to drop my rent check in the mail before I left, so I called the manager.

"I forgot to drop the rent check in the mail, I'm going to be a day late because I don't get back till tomorrow."

"Thats fine, just come see me when you get back."

I get back the next day and drop the rent, with a note specifiying who I am and that I had talked to the manager. Two days later I get a notice that I owe 75 dollars and if I don't pay it in 72 hours I owe another 50 dollars, so on and so forth. I call the manager.

"I thought you said everything was cool?"

"I meant I wasn't going to call the lawyers and evict you." word for word.

They hire a new manager every three to six months, because they can't keep them around. This new one is a particularily horrid thing. You know the old 'my word is god' - 'never read the state tenants rights book' kinda manager. Or never read any book for that matter.

Lastly, we come to the maintenance issues. I once spent three days without electricity. It went out friday morning, so I called Excel and asked them what was going on, they told me, word for word. "The manager said they weren't going to pay extra for somebody to come out and fix it on the weekend, so it won't be back on until monday." I was enraged, I called the apartment emergency number and they mumbled something and hung up. Where's my 75 bucks? I ran a cord down to the laundry room and spent the weekend huddled around a lamp and my tv. The air conditioner does NOT work, and the water is out AT LEAST once a week. I am not exaggerating. The hottub is disfunctional and gross, and the pool is milky from some sort of strange residue. When I moved in they showed me the nice model apartment they have in the pictures, then they refused to show me my place, saying it was being worked on. I had a truck from out of town, full of stuff, so took the leap- wham!, nasty carpet, old linoleum, old cabinets, and a shower that burns you every 60 seconds. Thats my experience.
